Bible Word Study: Minister

www.RealJesus.netThe original Hebrew word for “minister” is sharat (pronounced shah-raht). It means to wait on, to serve, to attend. To sharat (minister) refers to the tasks to which the closest servants of a king are assigned. It is a great privilege to be appointed to be a close servant of a king, for it demonstrates a high level of trust and esteem on the part of the king towards the servant.

“Then David said, ‘No one may carry the ark of God but the Levites, for the LORD (Yahovah) has chosen them to carry the ark of God and to minister before Him forever.” – 1 Chronicles 15:2

  1. Thank you for the verse, Pastor Luis. I share another, “I will make the descendants of David my servant and the Levites who minister before me as countless as the stars of the sky and as measureless as the sand on the seashore.'” Jeremiah 33:22 – NIV 1984
