– Deuteronomy 32:11-12
The Bible uses the above verses to illustrate how the Lord exercises His loving care over us, His chosen people, like an eagle cares for its young.
When our heavenly Father is teaching us to grow in faith and trust in Him, we are like young eagle chicks (eaglets) just learning how to fly. After the youngsters have grown past the period of nursing and have fully developed their wings, the mother eagle will stir up the nest and nudge them out of their comfort zones. She wants them to learn how to fly on their own and eventually leave the nest.
One at a time, as the young eagles are thrust out and flutter in the air (sometimes from great mountain heights) their wings are not often strong enough to keep them airborne for very long. They frightfully begin to fall until their mother swoops down and rescues them. Ever vigilant and protective of her children, she spreads her wings and catches them at the last moment.
Likewise, our Lord God thrusts us out of our comfort zones as we progress beyond the stage of “baby Christians” and trains us how to fly as mature believers. Over and over again, He teaches us that He is ever-present in our lives and protective of any danger we may encounter. He carries us on His wings to safety anytime we begin to fall until we’re strong enough to soar on our own. His constant vigilance over our lives assures us of His trustworthy love and care.
Thank God today for loving you enough to bring you out of any stagnation in your life that would keep you from soaring upwards on His wings of love and grace – helping you fulfill your utmost potential as a follower of Jesus Christ.
