Proclaiming the good news of Jesus Christ.

The Israel of God

“For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision avails any thing, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature. And as many as walk according to this rule, peace be on them, and mercy, and upon the Israel of God. From henceforth let no man trouble me: for I bear in my body the marks of the Lord Jesus.”  – Galatians 6:15-17

Romans 11:1-36 tells us that “The Good Olive Tree” is comprised of both Jewish and Gentile believers in Jesus the Messiah. The Jews are the natural branches, and the Gentiles have been grafted-in to become a part of the same tree. Together, they have become the true Israel of God today.

Metaphorically, we also bear upon our bodies the marks of the Lord Jesus (i.e. the stripes on His back from being whipped, the nail-scarred hands and feet from His crucifixion, and the stab wound on His side).

Under the New Covenant, the new Israel of God is the church of Jesus Christ. Regardless of race or nationality, every follower of Jesus who walks according to this principle has become a “new creation” and joint heir with the people of God. All New Covenant believers are blessed with peace and mercy as God’s true Israel.
