The money that we give to the poor and needy and to the work of God’s kingdom, may seem to the unjust like throwing money away, but in God’s eyes it is seen as seeds sown that will reap a bountiful harvest. Yes, it should be given carefully these days when there is so much greed, manipulation and misuse in the church. But that should not stop us from always being generous. This is not prosperity gospel hype – it’s the truth.
Our Lord Jesus Himself gave freely and willingly to those who requested His compassions. He taught us that it is more blessed to give than to receive. Likewise, we should do as He would do, and open up our hearts when we encounter a worthwhile opportunity to give. Don’t let the devil of selfishness turn you into a hoarder. Don’t fall for his faulty reasonings or justifications for your lack of giving. Remember that above all, God is well pleased when we give, and He will repay us by giving us sufficiency in all things.
When we give, God is able to make us abound by multiplying our finances and temporal earthly needs, as well as spiritual fruits of righteousness in our lives. Nothing is ever thrown away or lost. When we give with love and liberality, He will cause to return to us with increase all that we expend on the cause of furthering His kingdom and saving souls.
God is the source of all blessings enjoyed in time and eternity. Trust Him with all your resources.
