Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus

Featuring Loyiso Bala, Neville D and Ivan Siegelaar

O soul, are you weary and troubled?
No light in the darkness you see?
There’s light for a look at the Savior,
And life more abundant and free!

Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
Look full in His wonderful face,
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,
In the light of His glory and grace.

His Word shall not fail you—He promised;
Believe Him, and all will be well:
Then go to a world that is dying,
His perfect salvation to tell!

God is closer than you think

A Helping Hand_jpgEven when we are going through trials and tribulations and God seems far away, stand on His promises of love, care and protection. Do not rely on your feelings – but on faith. God will never leave you, nor forsake you. God is in control; He is closer than you think.

Grateful to God in all things

Grace For Today“Rejoice always, pray constantly, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”1 Thessalonians 5:16–18

An attitude of gratitude is a decision we must make every morning when we get out of bed – even when we don’t feel like it. Remember that each new day is a gift from God. The fact that we woke up at all is a blessing from God.

Even though you may have money troubles, physical ailments, rebellious children or other complaints, choose to give thanks to God in all circumstances. Don’t just thank Him for when things are going good in your life, but also for the things that are going wrong. Even our chastisements and corrections are a demonstrations of God’s love, and His design for our benefit. If we truly are trusting Jesus Christ as the Lord of our lives, then we should be confident that He is working ALL things out for our good (Romans 8:28).

Be careful not to quench the Holy Spirit by indulging in self-pity, resentment or bitterness. In everything give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus. As you do, He will reward you with His peace, joy, nearness and comfort. A truly victorious life in Christ is a life of constant joy.

Think of five things you are grateful for and concentrate on those today. Praise God for them and submit to His divine wisdom in allowing them into your life.

Heavenly Father, I praise You and thank You for everything in my life today – not only for the good, but also for any adversity I may be experiencing. I choose to have an attitude of gratitude, for I know you are working all things out for my good. I thank You especially for my salvation in Christ Jesus; for forgiving me of my sins and redeeming me with His precious blood. Amen.

The Prayer of the Aged

Grace For TodayIf you’re getting up in your years (like I am), you’ve probably noticed more gray hairs on your head than you used to have, and your physical strength is not what it used to be. Isn’t it good to know that God still loves you just the same in your senior years as when you were young? He has promised that He will never leave us nor forsake us – no matter how old we get.

“Cast me not off in the time of old age; forsake me not when my strength fails.” – Psalm 71:9

The apostle Paul also wrote about the advancing effects of age. He said that though our “outward man” (our physical bodies) may perish, our “inward man” (our human spirit) is being renewed day by day (2 Corinthians 4:16). Although our bodies may age and eventually decay, we experience ongoing renewal through the continual impartation of Christ’s life and power within us. His influence regenerates our minds, emotions and wills to be conformed to His likeness.

And when our outward body finally dies, our spirit continues to live forever where we will be brought by the holy angels into God’s heavenly presence (Luke 16:22). What a blessed hope that is for us who believed and trusted in Jesus Christ as our Savior.

“For we know that when this earthly tent we live in is taken down (that is, when we die and leave this earthly body), we will have a house in heaven, an eternal body made for us by God himself and not by human hands.” – 2 Corinthians 5:1

Those Who Sleep in Jesus

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE VERSE – 1 Thessalonians 4:13-14

“But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus .” – 1 Thessalonians 4:13-14

Todays_Scripture_VerseHave you lost a relative or loved one who was a Christian? Do you still miss them and grieve for them sometimes? Take comfort, for you will see them again. Right now they are “sleeping in Jesus”. But one day soon they will be resurrected from the dead. They will come alive again when Jesus returns and Raptures the Church. The dead in Christ will be resurrected first, and then we who are still alive and remain will be caught up together with the Lord, and we will be reunited with our loved ones. “Therefore”, writes the apostle Paul, “comfort one another with these words.”

The God Who Comforts Us

“He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us.”– 2 Cor. 1:4

Many think that when God comforts us, our troubles should go away. But if that were always so, people would turn to God only out of a desire to be relieved of pain and not out of love for him. We must understand that being comforted can also mean receiving strength, encouragement, and hope to deal with our troubles.

If you are feeling overwhelmed, allow God to comfort you. But also remember that every trial you endure will help you comfort other people who are suffering similar troubles.
