Our Christian lives can be compared to two different kinds of trees – one bearing good fruit, and the other bad. Jesus said “you will know them by their fruit.” The bad trees produce sour fruit, whereas the good tree produces sweet fruit because it has yielded itself to the cultivating and purifying presence of the Holy Spirit.
Since a good tree produces good fruit and an evil tree produces evil fruit. What sort of tree is your life?
The apostle Paul stated that the perfect Law of God is fulfilled in you through Messiah Jesus, if these fruits [or attributes] of the Holy Spirit are manifest in your life:
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.” – Galatians 5:22-23
Let us focus more on becoming more like Jesus in Character, and less on simply following religious rituals and external holiness, “Touch not, eat not,” and so on.
“Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day. These are a shadow of the things that were to come; the reality, however, is found in Christ.” – Colossians 2:16-17
Jesus has cancelled the Old Testament written code, with its regulations, that was against us and that stood opposed to us; he took it away, nailing it to the cross. Therefore, see to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy and doctrines, which depends on human tradition and the basic principles of this world rather than on Christ. (Col. 2:8,14).
