Faith That Pleases God

faith that pleases GodIf we truly love God with all our hearts, minds and souls, as Jesus commanded us, we will endeavor to please our heavenly Father in every area of our lives – how we speak, how we live our lives, and how we treat others.

However, the greatest way, I believe, we can please God is to acknowledge Him in our hearts and enjoy intimate communion with Him. Wherever we go and whatever we do, we should acknowledge Him in all our ways. The writer of Hebrews tells us:

“And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must [first of all] believe that He exists, and that He will [always] reward those who earnestly seek Him.” – Hebrews 11:6

Before we came to saving faith in Jesus Christ, we wandered this earth in uncertainty, restlessness, and sinful choices. We had no lasting peace or joy in our lives, because we didn’t really know the true source of all peace and joy. We were alienated from God, and thereby the most miserable people. Then, one day, we heard the gospel of Jesus Christ for the first time. Our hearts opened up to the good news that God loves us, has a perfect plan for us, and wishes for us to turn our lives back to Him. He would forgive us of our rebellious ways and accept us back into His family – if we would acknowledge our transgressions. Like the story of the Prodigal Son, our heavenly Father would throw a big celebration in heaven on our behalf, in order to rejoice in our return. And He did.

Afterwards, we began living a new life of faith, our sins were washed away. We had peace with God for the first time in our lives. All our doubts and insecurities were dispelled. We now earnestly seek God everyday and trust in His promises through faith. We no longer feel condemned, for there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, who live according to the leading of God’s Spirit.

Isn’t wonderful to be saved today? Let us praise and thank our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, who made it all possible. Let us continue to walk in the kind of faith that produces a changed life, a hope for eternity with God, and manifests the kind of love in our hearts that will please God and help draw others to Christ.

Believe in Yourself – God does!

Daily Inspiration_Logo_sm_300 x 230_jpgDaily Inspiration – A dose of daily inspiration and encouragement from the Word of God.

When I was a young boy, I suffered from low self-esteem. Part of the reason is that I had an abusive and critical father who constantly pointed out all my faults and rarely had anything good to say about me. This did considerable psychological damage. I grew up shy, insecure, and awkward around other people. I felt I was unloved and worthless.

But God, our heavenly Father is not that way at all. I discovered after becoming a Christian, that God loved me and thought the best of me. After all, He created me for a special purpose. And that He wanted to always encourage me to succeed in life, not to fail.

Did you know God feels the same way about you?

He loves you just as much. And He created you with a special purpose too. You are beautiful in His eyes, so don’t let anyone put you down nor make you feel inferior to others. You are worthy of God’s best! He has put you on this earth in order that you will have a fruitful and happy life. He says this about you in Jeremiah 29:11:

“For I know the plans I have for you, ‘declares the LORD, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

In Romans 8:31-32, the Bible also tells us:

“…If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all–how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?”

Walking By Faith – Not Feelings

Walking By Faith – Not Feelings.

“Indeed, our lives are guided by faith, not by sight.” – 2 Corinthians 5:7

Faith is not something that we can see or touch. We believe in God’s promises not because we can see it, but because we simply believe it. Our spirit man confirms to our minds and hearts that God is trustworthy in what He says, and thus we believe.

In fact, faith itself is a “gift from God” (Ephesians 2:8). We would not even be able to “believe” unless God gives us the gift of faith. Jesus confirmed this when He said, “No man can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him..” (John 6:44).

Jesus also declared many times to those who were miraculously healed, “Your faith has made you well.” We are saved and justified by faith (Romans 3:28). The book of Hebrews also teaches us that faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen (Hebrews 1:1).

God’s Word continually reminds us that the Christian life is a life of faith. Without faith it is impossible to please God. For we live by believing, and not by seeing, nor by what we “feel”.

“And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.” – Hebrews 11:6.

When we are “walking by faith”, we are affirming that the Christian is on a journey, or a pilgrimage, as he travels to another country. The sense here is that we remain hopeful and focused on the end of the journey, which is unseen, yet just as real as the present, which is seen.

By faith, we believe in those things which we do not see.

Living by faith is contrasted from living simply under the influence of things that are seen, or by what our feelings tells us. Since we cannot see God (or even feel Him sometimes), we know that He is always present with us. He has promised never to leave us nor forsake us (Hebrews 13:5). As Christian who are full of faith, we live, and think, and act as if there were a God, and as if we can always see Him.

“We believe in the existence of objects which are invisible, and we are influenced by them. To walk by faith, is to live in the confident expectation of things that are to come; in the belief of the existence of unseen realities; and suffering them to influence us as if they were seen. The people of this world are influenced by the things that are seen. They live for wealth, honor, splendor, praise, for the objects which this world can furnish, and as if there were nothing which is unseen, or as if they ought not to be influenced by the things which are unseen. The Christian, on the contrary, has a firm conviction of the reality of the glories of heaven; of the fact that the Redeemer is there; of the fact that there is a crown of glory; and he lives, and acts as if that were all real, and as if he saw it all. The simple account of faith, and of living by faith is, that we live and act as if these things were true, and suffer them to make an impression on our mind according to their real nature…” – Barnes’ Notes on the Bible.

Our enemy, the devil, wants to deceive us and control us through our feelings, and the lies he whispers into our thoughts, producing assumptions which are not true, such as “God doesn’t love me anymore”, “He doesn’t want to heal me”, or “I’m suffering this way because He’s punishing me for my sins.” These kind of thoughts contradict God’s promises to us in the Bible.  We must always remember that the devil is a liar and the “father of lies” (see John 8:44). He works on our minds and our feelings to try to discourage us from believing God at His Word. That’s why unbelief is so destructive to the Christian faith.

Anytime you begin to believe the devil’s lies, instead of God’s truth, you’re not going to be healed or receive your blessing. Once we believe the lies of Satan, the lies affect our emotions, our feelings get stirred up in the wrong direction, it affects the decisions we make. Then, we lose our faith and get out of the will of God.

Unfortunately, most Christians live more by their feelings than their faith.

I often hear the following complain, “I don’t feel God loves me.” I tell them, “As a matter of fact He does. He proved it on the cross – Read John 3:16.” Or they may say, “I’ve lost hope that I have a good future.” I reassure them, “As a matter of fact you do. In Jeremiah 29:11 God tells us, ‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the LORD, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

Waiting on a Miracle. Living outside the realm of feelings.

Believers who only live by their emotions or feelings, tend to make a lot of mistakes and false assumptions. We have to learn how to live beyond our feelings and obey God’s Word – even when we don’t feel like it. We need to follow God’s promises for our lives and not let our feelings dictate what we believe.

Do you tell yourself: “I don’t feel healed today”, or “I may not feel healed today, but God promised that I am already healed, in Jesus’ name.” The difference between one statement and the second is FAITH. Faith continues to believe God’s promises of healing and provision of every other blessing, even though we don’t see it happening yet, or even feel it.

Whatever miracle you’re believing God for in your life today, believe that He can do it.

Confess His Bible promises over and over again, until they become a reality – no matter how long it takes. Keep walking in faith, and thanking Him for your miracle as it was already a done matter. Some healings and miracles are instant, whereas others take more time to manifest. It’s all in God’s timing.

God promised Abraham that He would have a son although physically it seemed an impossible task. His wife Sarah was well beyond child-bearing age. But Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to Him for righteousness. After 20 years of waiting for his miracle, God finally came through, and Sarah gave birth to their son Isaac.

You may be thinking, “Well, that was in the Old Testament. I don’t feel God still does those kinds of miracles today.” Nothing could be further from the truth. God is still the same today as He was yesterday. He is still in the “miracle business”. What He did for Abraham and other people of faith in the past, He can do it for you.

Study all of God’s promises in the Bible. Write them down, and study them. Commit them to memory. Then, pray for God’s grace to believe Him for the seemingly impossible, and you will see it come to pass!

Stop dwelling on your past

A Christian Life Well Lived_jpg

No matter how old or young you are, stop dwelling on your past; there’s nothing you can do to change what went before. What’s done is done. Trust in Christ to give you hope for a bright future and a fresh new beginning. Commit your life to Him today and receive His love, mercy and forgiveness.

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature (has spiritually become a new person). The old things (the old life) have passed away; behold, all things are become new (a new life has begun as a result of spiritual re-birth).” – 2 Corinthians 5:17

Better days are ahead.

Rising Sun_jpg For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” – Jeremiah 29:11

Many of us have gone through traumatic and painful circumstances in life that have left us deeply hurt, used, abused, and rejected. As a result, we have been mentally and emotionally scarred which can keep us feeling unworthy, depressed, and mistrustful of others. We remain apprehensive of the future and doubtful of ever being happy again.

These experiences can also distort our image of God. We may ask ourselves, “How can a good and loving Father allows us to be hurt in this way?”

God’s love and mercy has never failed us.

We need to reaffirm to ourselves that no matter what other people do to us and no matter what trials we may experience, God loves us with an unfailing love. He is fully aware of every hurt we’ve experience and every tear that we’ve shed. In fact, our heavenly Father is already working on our behalf to make things better. He will turn something bad in our lives into something that will actually turn out for our good.

The Scriptures promise us “…God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.” – Romans 8:28

We may not always understand why God permits things to happen, but we can trust Him to somehow turn it around for our good.

Righteous Job suffered pain and loss.

The life of Job is a good example of how God is a God of restoration. Job was a man that God had nothing but good things to say about him. He told Satan, “Have you considered my servant Job? There is no one on earth like him; he is blameless and upright, a man who honors God and shuns evil.” – Job 1:8

Yet despite Job’s goodness, Satan hated him and set out to destroy him, his family, and all he possessed. But through all his loss and pain, Job never lost his faith and commitment to honor God. His own wife even tried to persuade him to “Curse God and die.” Job rebuked her foolishness and bad advice. He also declared his unswerving trust in God, “Though He slay me, yet will I trust Him.” – Job 13:15

After Job went through his time of testing and affliction, God worked all the bad things that happened for his good. When Job proved faithful to trust God in all circumstances, God restored his joy, peace, health, and finances. He even gave him a new wife and more children. In fact, Job lived a good long life and his latter days proved to be better that his former days. The LORD paid him back double for all his previous loss.

God will do the same for you.

Your heavenly Father loves you so much that He will heal every emotional would, help you to love again, and restore everything that Satan has stolen from you. Your latter days will be better than the first, and you will live a long life to enjoy it. You’re going to come out stronger, healthier and happier than you’ve ever been.

So shake off any negative, defeated or bitter mindset. Stop walking around feeling hurt, depressed or thinking about the past. Reaffirm your faith in God’s love and goodness. If you’ve stopped going to church, get into a good church that honors Jesus and preaches an edifying message. Pray and spend time alone with God daily. Do your best to live a good and righteous life of faith that pleases God. Tell others about the changes Jesus has made in your life. If you do these things, God will bless your life in a way you never thought possible.

Pray the following prayer today:

”Dear good and gracious Father, I thank You that You will turn around all these negative experiences for my good. I love You and trust You no matter what. I also thank you that you will pay me back double for my trouble, and better days are ahead for me. I believe it and declare it so, in Jesus’ name, amen.”

God has not given up on you.

Spirit-Lifting Thoughts for Today_150 x 150_jpgWho will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies and has given us right standing with Himself.” – Romans 8:33

In the fallen world we live in, it is easy to be hurt by other people with their critical words and judgmental attitudes.

But our heavenly Father is not like that.

He loves us just as we are, despite our flaws and wrongful actions. He understands us better than we understand ourselves. He knows what we struggle with and He doesn’t condemn us when we fall short of perfection.

All He asks of us is to believe in His love, wisdom and faithfulness, and to surrender our lives to His control. He is our Creator; He made us for a special purpose. Therefore, only He knows best what is right for us. We must trust His judgment implicitly in whatever direction He takes us in life. We must pray that His will be done in whatever decisions we make – even when things don’t always work out the way we planned. Yet despite our disappointment, we know God’s ways are always best.

When we rebel against His will, or make sinful choices, we simply need to confess our sins, claim the provision of forgiveness that Jesus made for us on the cross, and receive His cleansing and restoration once again.

Don’t worry about what others may say or think. What is important is what God thinks about us. He still loves us. He has not  rejected us or condemned us for failing. On the contrary, He still wants the best for us. He is still for us, and not against us. He has justified us in Messiah Jesus and has acquitted us of all guilt.

So, if you’re feeling down today, don’t stay there. Encourage yourself in the Lord. Pick up your spiritual feet and keep walking with God. Keep moving forward in faith and try to do better in the future. Although others may condemn and reject you , God will never leave you nor forsake you.

Keep holding on to Jesus’ hand. Jesus is our best friend. Oh, what a friend we have in Jesus. Amen.

Life Without Arms or Legs or Limitations

The inspirational testimony of Nick Vujicic

“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” – Jeremiah 29:11

Can God can use a a man born without arms or legs? Yes He can! Nick Vujicic shows the world how to live a life without physical limitations.

“My name is Nick Vujicic and I’m 31 years old. I was born without arms or legs and given no medical reason for this condition. Faced with countless challenges and obstacles, God has given me the strength to surmount what others might call impossible.

My book, “Life Without Limbs” is all about sharing this same hope and genuine love that I have personally experienced with people all over the globe. It’s been said that doors open to a man without arms and legs much more easily than to anyone else, we thank God for providing that privilege. I’ve been invited into very unexpected places to share about my faith in Jesus Christ and literally millions have responded.

Traveling extensively to over 54 countries and still counting, I have been extremely humbled by the continuous opportunities that the Lord has given me to share my testimony. My greatest joy in this life is to introduce Jesus to those I meet and tell them of His great desire to get to know them personally by allowing Him to become their Lord and Savior. That’s what Life Without Limbs is all about.

In Psalm 139:13-14, the Bible says, “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.”

Because of the ministry of Life Without Limbs, God has used me in countless schools, churches, prisons, orphanages, hospitals, stadiums and in face-to-face encounters with individuals, telling them how very precious they are to God. It is our greatest pleasure to assure people that God does have a plan for each and every life that is meaningful and purposeful, for God took my life, one that others might disregard as not having any significance and He has filled me with His purpose and showed me His plans to use me to move hearts and lives toward Him.”
