Fear Not When You’re Walking With Jesus

Pastor Luis Yosefus

“Then after that He said to his disciples, Let us go into Judaea again. His disciples said unto him, Rabbi, your enemies of late have sought to stone You; and You go there again? Jesus answered, Are there not twelve hours in the day? If any man walks in the day, he stumbles not, because he sees the light of this world. But if a man walks in the night, he stumbles, because there is no light in him.” – John 11:7-10 [JCV]

When Jesus decided to return to Judea, His disciples became alarmed at His decision. They were deeply concerned about the danger He was putting Himself in. They tried to reason with Jesus, “Don’t you know that if you go back there your enemies will try to stone you and take your life?” I believe Jesus replied in this manner, “Don’t you worry about Me. First of all, I am the light of the world. Secondly. I know that I am walking in the light and my Father is watching over Me. As long as any of you are walking according to the will of God you should fear no danger. Our Heavenly Father will watch over you and protect you. He will never allow you to stumble. However, if you’re not walking in the light, but in darkness, you certainly have reason to fear. God’s divine protection will not cover you, and your enemies will triumph over you. You will stumble as those who are walking in darkness.”

Are you walking in the light today? Have you received Jesus as your Savior and Lord? Are you doing the best you can to live your life according the will of God? If so, then you have nothing to fear when you’re walking with Jesus. Your enemies can try to intimidate you and make threats against you, but with God at your side, no weapon that is formed against you shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17) Stand on God’s promises of protection. David said, “I have set the LORD always before me: because He is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.” – Psalm 16:8

Is war between Israel and Iran imminent?

According to the Israeli Prime Minister’s visit in Washington, DC this past weekend, war between Israel and Iran appears to be imminent. In one speech Benjamin Netanyahu declared:

“In the 20th century, the Jewish people have transformed from being defenseless and stateless into a strong and proud nation, fully capable of protecting itself. The Jewish state will never allow those who seek its destruction to hold means necessary to achieve such destruction. As the Prime Minister of the Israeli government, I will never have my people live in the shadow of annihilation.”

If we read between the lines, it appears that a preemptive strike by Israel against Iran to destroy their nuclear weapons is suggested by Netayahu’s statement, “…I will never have my people live in the shadow of annihilation.”

Previously, Iran has openly declared its intention to “destroy Israel off the map”, therefore, it would not be unreasonable to conclude that it will use its new nuclear weapons to do so. If that is the case, I don’t believe it would be wrong for Israel to protect itself before it is eventually attacked by Iran. Please pray that this war can be averted at all costs. But if it cannot, pray that Yahovah God, the Lord of hosts, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, will protect Israel and the Jewish people from all its enemies. They are still His chosen people and no weapon against them shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17).

Comment from Brenda Groendyk Schmid: “Did anyone else listen to Netanyahu’s speech last night? Sobering, indeed! Praying for peace in the Middle East and the safety and protection of the nation of Israel!”

Comment from Christians United for Israel: “We believe that when it comes to defending Israel and the Jewish people, Prime Minister Netanyahu cannot defer to anyone else’s judgements, red lines or timetables. The Prime Minister must resist pressure from any and all outside forces.”

Comment from AIPAC Executive Director Howard Kohr: “For twenty years, Israel has sounded the alarm about the dangers of Iran becoming a nuclear power in an attempt to avoid military confrontation by anyone. Israel has never treated force as the first resort. It has always been – and still is – the last resort. But Israel does not control the path Iran is on. If at some point, Israel – or anyone – must act – only Iran will be to blame.”

Your Enemies Are My Enemies

Grace For Today“But if thou shalt indeed obey his voice, and do all that I speak; then I will be an enemy unto thine enemies, and an adversary unto thine adversaries.”– Exodus 23:22.

Many times in the course of our lives as Christians, problems and difficulties arise that are deliberate attacks of invisible demonic forces in the spirit realm. Satan will use other human beings who are under his control (knowingly or unknowingly) to come against us. But we must not be dismayed or perplexed when we are confronted with these fiery trials, for God Himself will fight for us and give us the victory.

“Dear friends, don’t be surprised at the fiery trials you are going through, as if something strange were happening to you.”– 1 Peter 4:12

When difficult situations occur we may even wonder if God is mad at us. But, as we pause and examine our lives and the consistent obedience of our faith, we eventually come to the conclusion that many of these trying circumstances are an outright attack of our spiritual adversary – the devil. He is generally the source of these fiery trials and in Jesus’ name, we must stand against him with by putting on the whole Armour of God and remain strong in the Lord and the power of His might.

“…be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” – Eph. 6:10-12

It should not surprise us how much the devil’s hates us for being a bold witness for God. As such, he will try to fight us any way he can – even using the people that surround us. When these same people speak evil of us, or go out of their way to make our lives difficult, or try to rob us of our peace and joy in Christ, we must remember where the attack is coming from and who is pulling their strings.

As we pray and stand on God’s promises of deliverance over the devil and every enemy that rises up against us, we can see the salvation of the Lord in due time. We can be at peace knowing that “No weapon that is formed against you will prosper; And every tongue that accuses you in judgment [God] will condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, And their vindication is from Me,’ declares the LORD.” – Isaiah 54:17

Relax and trust that God is in control. He has promised us to be an enemy to our enemies, and an adversary to our adversaries.

COMMENT from Lily: “A word of wisdom. A real and lasting freedom must be controlled by love. Freedom to do as one pleases, without regard for others or for the circumstances, is destructive. Christian liberty is freedom to love and to serve. It is abuse when it is made an excuse for loveless behavior or inconsiderate actions.”
