If the above question sounds a bit absurd, so should the recent proposal to the State of Israel by the Obama Administration that Israel should recede back to its 1967 borders in order to appease the Palestinian / Arab governments.
If we use the same kind of pretzel logic that the Presidential Administration is using, we could also rationalize the returning of land to Mexico that the United States took (annexed) from them in 1845 (see map below).
During the American and Mexican War (1846-1848), thousands of Mexican people were driven from their homes and lands and forced to relocate south of the new U.S. borders imposed by American aggression. Some people might even argue that American settlement in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada, Utah, Colorado, and California is clearly illegal and should be returned to Mexico.
Please Stand in Solidarity with Israel
From a biblical perspective, the Children of Israel fought many such wars in the Old Testament, conquering the Amorites, Ammonites, Moabites, Jebusites, and others who originally lived in the land of Canaan. In each case, God Himself instructed the Israelites to do so, and He gave them the victory – sometimes under seemingly impossible odds. After each battle, God also instructed them to dispossess the inhabitants and possess the land for themselves, along with the spoils of war. Why should things be any different today?
God originally gave this land of Israel as a possession to Abraham and his descendents forever through his son ISAAC (not Ishmael). The land of Israel has never belonged to the Arabs nor the Palestinians since that time, and anyone who tries to undo what God has ordained will find themselves pushing against a brick wall. God made a promise to Abraham and the Jewish people long ago that still stands:
“The Lord said to Abram after Lot had parted from him, ‘Lift up your eyes from where you are and look north and south, east and west. All the land that you see I will give to you and your offspring forever…Go, walk through the length and breadth of the land, for I am giving it to you.” – Genesis 13:14-17
As an American evangelical Christian I believe the Bible is inspired by God and I take it’s warnings seriously. I am a strong supporter of the State of Israel and I regularly pray for the peace (shalom) of Jerusalem (Psalms 122:7). Therefore, I am concerned that if the Obama Administration continues to pressure the State of Israel to give up the land that rightly belongs to them, the anger of God will be aroused against America and the curse pronounced against those who curse (or harm) Israel will come upon us (Genesis 12:3).
Write your congressman and protest Obama’s irrational proposal to have Israel return to its 1967 borders, and continue to pray for the peace of Jerusalem.
