True Wisdom

True wisdom fears and respects God almighty.

True wisdom fears and respects God almighty.

Men of Wisdom Conference

I was invited to be a guest speaker at a recent evangelistic meeting, “Men of Wisdom,” featuring various pastors and Bible teachers. Here is the message I preached, where lives were impacted and souls were saved, for the glory of God.

– Pastor Luis Yosefus

– — – – – – –

What is true wisdom?

“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom…” – Psalms 111:10

A truly wise man or woman, regardless of their education or lack thereof, no matter if they’re rich or poor, can be wise because they fear and respect God. It is true that God is a god of love, but He is also a god of judgment.  Therefore, we always need to live our lives mindful of this fact. Because we are sinful people who, knowingly or unknowingly, commit sin every day of our lives, we need to make sure that we confess our sins daily and be cleansed by the precious blood of Jesus.

Who is a foolish person?

A foolish person says there is no God, and no sin, and no judgment day. They reject the grace of God and His free gift of salvation through Jesus Christ. But although they are in denial,  and have allowed Satan to blind them to the reality of God, they will one day stand before almighty God at the Great White Throne Judgment.

And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And if anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire. “ – Revelation 20:11-15

Either you name will be found written in the Book of Life – where your sins have been atoned for by the blood of Jesus on the cross, or your name will be written in the Book of Death and Judgment. In these books of judgment, God has kept a very detailed record of your life. Every evil word you have spoken, every wicked deed you have committed, and every shameful thought that has crossed your mind will be listed there. No one whose names appear in the Books of Death and Judgment will escape the wrath of God. They will be cast into the Lake of Fire for eternity.

In which book is your name written?

Is your name written in the Book of Life, or the Book of Judgment? If your name is written in the Book of Life you don’t need to fear God’s judgment anymore. All those who have their names written in the Book of Life will be saved by grace through faith. They will not be judged by their works, but by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and His imputed righteousness. They have been forgiven of all their sins and cleansed by His blood. God will never remember their sins again!

Romans 8:1-2 assures us that “There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus…For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made us free from the law of sin and death.”

We are saved by grace through faith, not of our own works, lest anyone should boast (Ephesians 2:8-9).

No matter what type of life you’ve lived in the past, no matter what sins you have committed, your name can be written in the Lamb’s Book of Life today – if you repent and receive Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord. That is the greatest and wisest decision you can ever make. Unfortunately, too many people are fools to the very end of their lives. They never believe, and never repent, and they reject God’s free gift of salvation.

I admonish you today, to become the wisest person in the world, and receive Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord. Be saved before it’s too late!

2 Corinthians 6:2, in the New Living Translation reads, For God says, “At just the right time, I heard you. On the day of salvation, I helped you.” Indeed, the “right time” is now. Today is the day of salvation.”

Today is the day of salvation…Won’t you receive Jesus right now?

Bow your head and pray this prayer out loud, and mean it with all your heart:

“Dear Jesus, I believe you are the Son of God who died on the cross for my sins. I ask you to forgive me of my sins and become the Savior and Lord of my life. Amen.”

If you just prayed this prayer, write us and let us know so we can rejoice with you!

Time is Running Short for America

AUTHOR’S NOTE: I originally published this message in May of 2012. Since then, America has not repented; instead they have continued morally downhill and further rebelled against God. Therefore, more disaster is imminent – perhaps sooner than the year 2015, as Rabbi Cahn predicts in his book, The Harbinger. God’s people need to prepare for the worst economic meltdown ever seen in the history of the United States, as well as other calamities. Only those who seek refuge in God will have any hope. Read Psalms 91 and heed its admonitions. – Pastor Luis Yosefus

– – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – –

“For the leaders of this people cause them to err; and they that are led of them are destroyed.” – Isaiah 9:16

For quite a number of years now, God’s true prophets in the Christian church have been calling America to repent and turn back to God. Sadly, many of these genuine prophetic voices have been drowned out by spiritually adulterous pastors and preachers who falsely reassure God’s people that God is not mad at them. They are like the compromising spiritual leaders of Israel who promised God’s people “peace and blessing” when disaster was looming over the horizon. When the people began to fear God’s judgments, the false prophets and lying priests comforted them by flatterings, showing that God would send peace to them, and not war.

“They offer superficial treatments for my people’s mortal wound. They give assurances of peace when there is no peace. Are they ashamed of their loathsome conduct? No, they have no shame at all; they do not even know how to blush. So they will fall among the fallen; they will be brought down when I punish them,” says the LORD.” – Jeremiah 6:14-15

One such prophet who is sounding the alarm today is Messianic Rabbi Jonathan Cahn. He has written an important book called The Harbinger which clearly illustrates the warning signs that God has been sending upon the United States of America. He likens these progressive warning judgments as Shemittahs (pronounced She-mee-tah in Hebrew) of seven-year cycles.

* The first Shemittah was the Terrorist Attack of 9/11/2001 on New York City’s Twin Towers.

* The second Shemittah was the Economic Collapse of 2008

* The third Shemittah will happen in the year 2015.

As these seven-year Shemittahs continue, God’s judgments will get progressively worse upon America. Unless America humbles herself, seeks God’s face, and turns from her wicked ways, God will not heal this nation from all her troubles (2 Chronicles 7:14). We have forsaken the LORD who once greatly blessed this nation. Therefore, because of America’s disobedience God is now sending curses upon America instead of blessing.

God says, “Do not listen to your arrogant leaders who cause you to err.”

After the first and second Shemittah judgments in 2001 and 2008, the arrogant American politicians declared:

“We will rebuild and emerge stronger than ever before!”

Israel’s leaders gave the people the same false assurance: “They said, “We will replace the broken bricks of our ruins with finished stone, and replant the felled sycamore-fig trees with cedars.” (Isaiah 9:10)

But God has a different message for the American people. It is the same message He spoke to the rebellious nation of Israel:

“For after all this punishment, the people will still not repent. They will not seek the LORD of Heaven’s Armies. Therefore, in a single day the LORD will destroy both the head and the tail, the noble palm branch and the lowly reed. The leaders of Israel are the head, and the lying prophets are the tail.” – Isaiah 9:13-15

Unless America repents, God will send further calamities upon this nation which will reach all sorts of persons – both the prominent politicians and apostate church leaders to the lowliest persons that trusted in their lies. He will beat down their vain presumptions of peace and prosperity, by showing that these false prophets, which had fed their vain hopes, should perish, and their false prophecies with them.

Is there any hope for America?

Yes, of course. But only if the American people meet God’s conditions. America must respond to God’s progressive punishments by asking for His forgiveness and turn back to Him with all their hearts. God takes no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but ultimately desires that all will come to repentance.

“Do I take any pleasure in the death of the wicked? declares the Sovereign LORD. Rather, am I not pleased when they turn from their ways and live?– Ezekiel 18:23

God is a God of justice and righteousness and so He calls evil and sin what they are. He holds people accountable accordingly. But God is also a God of mercy and love, and desires that all people — even the most sinful and wicked among us — repent and “turn from their wicked ways.” However, when the wicked do not repent and turn, God has no choice but to afflict them with His justice, although He takes no pleasure when they ultimately experience the consequences of their wickedness in death.

So America is at a crossroads: Will she repent of her wickedness and turn back to God, thereby averting any further judgment? Or, will she ignore God’s warning judgments and further incur His wrath until the United States of America (as we know it) ceases to exist?

Desperate Prayer is Effective Prayer.

I believe God is calling His holy remnant to fervently pray and intercede for this nation as never before.

“The effective, FERVENT prayer of a righteous man avails much.” – James 5:16

The key to effective praying is fervency. Are you willing to be fervent in your intercession? Perhaps through the multitude of our desperate prayers for America we can help turn the tide and save this nation from ultimate ruin.

May God bless America once again.

The Sorcerer’s Sin

Cast out the demon of bitterness

“For I see that you are poisoned by bitterness and bound by iniquity.” – Acts 8:23

In the Book of Acts we read the account of Simon the sorcerer’s sin. When the apostles heard of a revival taking place in Samaria, they sent Peter and John to minister the Word of God there. Many had believed the gospel under the preaching of Phillip and were water baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. But none had received the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. So the apostles laid hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit (with the evidence of speaking in tongues).

Among those who supposedly had believed in Jesus was a Samaritan sorcerer by the name of Simon. Keep in mind, that a sorcerer in those times was the equivalent of what we would call today “an occultist”, “New Ager”, or “wizard” – one who tries to control others by practicing witchcraft, conjures up spells, and traffics with demons. They were generally God-haters who sold their souls to Satan in order to gain supernatural powers from the devil.

Apparently, Simon the Sorcerer attended the Samaritan’s revival meetings, saw people giving their lives to Jesus, and witnessed all manner of supernatural signs and wonders that God began to do. Miraculous healings were taking place and demons were exorcised, as well as people getting baptized in the Holy Spirit, speaking in tongues, and living transformed lives.

As it often happens, when people start seeing the awesome move of God in a church or town, the word gets around and large crowds begin to gather. Many in these crowds genuinely commit their lives to following Jesus, while others only make a superficial profession of faith. Those who genuinely are saved will give evidence of changed lives and bear the good fruits of salvation. Others profess to receive Jesus as Savior and Lord, but, either never demonstrate changed lives, or after a time they forsake Him and return to their old ways.

Peter discerns Simon to be a false professor.

Having the gift of discernment from the Holy Spirit, the apostle Peter saw right through Simon the Sorcerer and realized he was a phony. Peter told him, “Your heart is not right in the sight of God…For I see that you are poisoned by bitterness and bound by iniquity.” (Acts 8:21-23). The word Bitterness in the original Greek (pikria – pik-ree’-ah) means an embittered, resentful spirit.

Peter rightly discerned the root of bitterness in Simon the Sorcerer’s heart and  his desire to deceive and manipulate others. This prompted his eagerness to purchase the gift of the Holy Spirit from Peter and John. Although Simon had believed in Jesus and had been water baptized, the residue of an evil heart continued to govern his life as he still sought power to control others for selfish or self-exalting purposes.

Peter confronted Simon to repent and be delivered. However, Simon refuses and continues to follow the dictates of his bitter heart. If only Simon had willingly forgiven those who he had become embittered to, he could have been saved and set free from his bondage to the demons that controlled him. Forgiveness is the only remedy for bitterness. It flushes out all “poison” from the heart with the power of the cross of Jesus Christ.

Remember that unforgiveness has destroyed the faith of many believers in Jesus Christ. If you have any resentment or bitterness towards anyone in your life, get rid of it today.

Bitterness is like a cancer

Grace For Today“Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.”– Ephesians 4:31-32

It is astonishing to me how many born-again Christians I have met in my 20+ years of ministry that allow themselves to indulge in the spirit of bitterness. They are ultra-critical of other brothers and sisters in Christ and unmerciful to the failings of others. Yet, if you observe their lives, they are full of faults and failures themselves. If that be the case, why are they so quick to point out the faults of others? Jesus rebuked this kind of hypocrisy in Matthew 7:1-5:

“Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the log in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a log in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye. “

Those who are critical and bitter towards other brothers in Christ are generally completely blind to their own faults. They slander and rage and speak filthy words of others when they should be loving and forgiving. They also do great damage by corrupting the minds and manners of those who give ear to their malicious gossip.

Christians should beware of all such bitterness in their hearts and evil-speaking. They will eventually grieve the Holy Spirit to the point that the Lord Himself will judge them severely. One way that God judges the believer who refuses to turn away from this type of sin is to allow bitterness to spread like a cancer throughout their entire mind and body until it produces complete spiritual (and sometimes) early physical death.

We are admonished in God’s Word to “get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, slander, and malice”. We are to forgive those who have done us wrong. We are also to stop focusing on the faults of others. As true followers of Christ, we are to be kind and compassionate towards one another, just as in Christ God is towards us.

Ask yourself, how can you expect God to forgive you when you are not willing to forgive?

Are you seeking the blessings of God? Then you must first learn to be a blessing towards others. For you will reap what you have sown (Galatians 6:7-8). If you sow bitterness and malice towards others, you will reap bitterness and malice towards yourself. If you harbor a corrupt disposition of bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, evil-speaking and malice, you will only end up hurting yourself.

Don’t let the spirit of bitterness eat you alive like a cancer.

Instead,  put on the “new man” which is created in the likeness of our Lord Jesus Christ. Remember that even after He suffered everything that He went through, He never allowed bitterness to enter His heart. One of the last words Jesus spoke as He was dying regarding His enemies, was, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.”
