God can fix your mess

Mess into a messageAre you in a mess today?

Did you marry the wrong person, get involved in a business matter you should have avoided, or perhaps done something that has gotten you into trouble?

Was God warning you not to do it? Did you ignore His still, small voice inside of you, but you still went ahead and did it? You know you have no one to blame but yourself. You take full responsibility for your mistake. Are you wondering if God can still help you?

Yes He will.

He is a God of mercy and forgiveness. If you will fess up when you mess up and call upon His help, He will deliver you.

The prophet Jonah messed up big time. But the LORD Yehovah delivered him from all his troubles. He testified afterwards, I called to the LORD in my distress, and He answered me. I cried out for help in the belly of Sheol; You heard my voice.” – Jonah 2:2

Jonah in whale bellyGod had called Jonah to go to Nineveh and preach salvation to this evil nation. They were the despised enemies of the Jews so Jonah didn’t want to go. He decided to rebel against God and headed to Tarshish – in the opposite direction. His foolish decision almost cost him his life. A great storm engulfed the ship he was traveling in and he ended up tossed overboard into the belly of a huge whale for 3 days. God miraculously prevented the digestive acids of the whale from harming Jonah. Afterwards, the whale spewed him out unto dry land. God gave Jonah another chance, and he took it.

God is good at saving us from the dumb things we do.

It’s amazing how He can even turn the biggest blunders we make into something that actually turns out for our good. The apostle Paul wrote, And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.” – Romans 8:28

If you call upon Him in humility and faith, God can clean up your mess right now. Don’t be too proud or too stubborn to confess your faults to Him. He is very understanding. Pray and admit your were foolish and rebellious; you didn’t listen when He tried to warn you, and did what you knew better not to do. Ask Him to get you out of this mess and give you another chance to get it right. Pray and ask your heavenly Father to forgive you and restore you, in Jesus’ name, amen.

Nature Testifies of God’s Love

When you look at Nature it greatly testifies of God’s love. Our Heavenly Father is the source of all life, wisdom, beauty and happiness. Look at the wonderful creation He has made. Think of His unfailing provision for, not only of man, but of all living creatures. The sunshine and the rain, that gladden and refresh the earth, the hills and seas and plains, all speak to us of the Creator’s love. It is God who infinitively supplies every need. In the inspiring words of the psalmist–

“The eyes of all wait upon You;
And You give them their food in due season.
You open Your hand,
And satisfy the desire of every living thing.”

– Psalm 145:15, 16.

God made man perfectly holy and happy; and the fair earth, as it came from the Creator’s hand, bore no blight of decay or shadow of cursing. It was the transgression of God’s divine law–the law of love—that has brought woe and death. Yet even amid the suffering that results from man’s transgression, God’s love is still revealed. God’s desire is to uplift man from the ruin and degradation that his sin has wrought. Man’s ruin of this world is not all sorrow and misery. In nature itself are messages of hope and comfort. There are flowers upon the thistles, and roses among the thorns. “God is love” is written upon every opening bud, upon every blade of springing grass. The lovely birds making the air lively with their happy songs, the perfuming air of fragrant flowers, the lofty trees of the forest with their rich foliage of living green — all testify to the tender, fatherly care of our God and to His desire to make His children happy.

Nature Testifies of God’s Love

When you look at the Natural world, it greatly testifies of God’s love. It becomes obvious for anyone to see that our Heavenly Father is the source of all life, wisdom, beauty and happiness. Think of the sunshine and the rain, that gladden and refresh the earth, the beauty of the hills and seas and plains; they all speak to us of the Creator’s love. It is God who generously supplies every need.

The eyes of all Your creatures look to You, our heavenly Father, and you give them their food at the proper time. When you open your hand, you satisfy the hunger and thirst of every living thing.”

– Psalm 145:15, 16 (JCV)

God made man perfect, holy and happy, and the earth to be His habitation. It came from the Creator’s hand without blight of decay, or sin or cursing. It was the transgression of God’s divine law–the law of faith—that has brought misery and death. Yet despite the suffering that results from man’s transgression, God’s love is still revealed. Sinners In Need of a Physician

Sinners In Need of a Physician

Sinners In Need of a Physician

“But when Jesus heard that, he said unto them, They that be healthy need not a physician, but they that are sick. But go and learn what that means, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.”

– Matthew 9:12-13.

Modern day Pharisees in the Christian Church look down on other Christians that are not afraid of being criticized for rubbing shoulders with the outcasts of society in order to win them to saving faith in Jesus. When they see us conversing with blasphemers, witches, drug addicts, alcoholics, and sexually immoral people, they also ask the same question of us that they asked Jesus, “Why does your Teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?”

Pharisaical* Christians are so arrogant in their own personal holiness that they forget they were once filthy sinners themselves. Only by God’s mercy were they forgiven, saved, and given a clean start in life. All Christians are what they are today because, some time ago, someone talked to us about Jesus. Even while we were spiritually dead in our trespasses and sins, God still loved us enough to draw us to repentance. He sent messengers into our lives to preach the Good News (Gospel) to us.

But Pharisees self-righteously criticize other brothers and sisters in the Messiah for being a friend to sinners. They forget that a sinner is not won to Jesus simply by the words you preach to them, but also by the love of God you show to them.

The love of God is best demonstrated by accepting a sinner just as they are, without becoming part of their sinful ways. They need to know you are their friend – despite the vast differences between you and them in moral standards and lifestyle.

By His example, Jesus taught us that having fellowship with sinners is not a sin; it is the will of God who desires that all men be saved. To paraphrase Matthew 9:12, “Those who have need of spiritual healing are not those who are healthy, but those who are sick with sin.”

Like Jesus pointed out, we are to liken ourselves to a physician who goes where there is genuine need. It would be absurd for a doctor to refuse to treat the sick.

Jesus will calm your storm

Jesus will calm your storm.

Jesus will calm your storm.

Early this morning as I was studying the Bible and trying to pray I became momentarily overwhelmed by the pressing circumstances in my life. I will be honest with you, it was really hard to focus on God’s goodness and trustworthiness. But as I read Matthew 8:25-26 the Lord encouraged me to believe Him, once again, to do a miracle in my life. He has done it so many times before; but sometimes I still doubt for a moment.

When the disciples were traveling with Jesus in a boat one day, a great storm arose which caused them to fear for their lives. They cried out to Jesus who was peacefully sleeping in the boat, “Lord, save us! We are perishing!” But Jesus said to them, “Why are you so fearful, O you of little faith.” Afterward Jesus rebuked the winds and sea and they became calm again.

Are you fearful or distraught today?

Are you going through some kind of storm – mental, physical, or financial? Are you doubting the love of God for you and His ability to deliver you? Don’t be of “little faith” like the disciples in the boat. Cry out to Jesus. Believe that our Heavenly Father is a big God; is there anything too hard for Him to handle? Of course not.

Pray in faith, never doubting that God can provide the miracle you need today, and rebuke the storm in your life. Let His peace (shalom) that surpasses all understanding guard your heart and mind through Messiah Jesus.
