Happy Thanksgiving Day

“Always rejoice; continually pray; in every thing give thanks…” – 1Thessalonians 5:16-18

Although national Thanksgiving Day is not one of the Seven Biblical Feasts (or holidays) instituted by Yahovah God, I don’t believe that it is necessarily wrong for Christians to observe it. Unlike Christmas, Easter and Halloween which have pagan or occult origins, Thanksgiving Day originated with the Christian pilgrims giving thanks to God for their first successful harvest in America after migrating from England in 1621.

For those reading this message in other countries (other than the USA) – who are not familiar with this American holiday, it is celebrated on the fourth Thursday of each November. Traditionally, families and friends come together on this holiday to enjoy a day of rest and partake of a delicious banquet of homemade turkey, gravy, stuffing, sweet potatoes, and pumpkin pie. Before eating, prayer is made by the head of the family (usually the host father) and collective thanks are given to God for the meal and for His merciful provision throughout the entire year. A typical prayer might include the following:

“Dear merciful and Gracious Father, we thank you for this delicious bounty we are about to eat, for we recognize that every good and perfect gift comes from You alone, and that You are always faithful to supply all of our needs, according to Your riches in glory.

We are so grateful to You for every blessing You have bestowed upon us throughout this year, especially the greatest blessing of all, that You gave Your only begotten Son, Jesus Christ the Messiah, to die in our place for the forgiveness of our sins and the redemption of our lives.

Thank you for this precious time of fellowship and love we are enjoying today with our family and friends. We pray that everything that we do and say on this national holiday will bring You praise, glory and honor. Amen.”

Here at Real Jesus Ministries, it is our desire and prayer, that you and your family have a blessed harvest holiday by spending it in the spirit of thanksgiving and adoration to our God and Savior Jesus Christ [ Messiah].

Grace and peace be unto you. In Jesus’ name,

Pastor Luis Yosefus
