All things are ordained in heaven

gods will or my will

“For promotion and exaltation comes not from the east or the west, nor from the south. It is God alone who judges; he decides who will rise and who will fall.” – Psalm 75:6-7

Do you wish to succeed in life? Don’t boast about your own merits and future plans. It is God who ultimately decides. He alone can lift you up or bring you down.

Unless it is God’s will, the best-laid goals and strategies will come to nothing. The Bible tells us to pray about everything, acknowledge Him in all our ways, and commit all into God’s hands. If our concepts and preparations are unsuccessful, rest assured that they were never meant to be. Trusting God means that He has to have the last word in whatever we do, because He knows what is best for us.

How arrogant and contriving it is for us to leave God out of our plans! How vain it is to look for any thing good to turn out without God’s blessing and guidance!

“Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. Instead, you ought to say, “If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that. As it is, you boast in your arrogant schemes. All such boasting is evil.” – James 4:14-16

Matthew Henry writes, “Our times are not in our own hands, but at the disposal of God. Our heads may be filled with cares and contrivances for ourselves, or our families, or our friends; but Providence often throws our plans into confusion. All we design, and all we do, should be with submissive dependence on God. It is foolish, and it is hurtful, to boast of worldly things and aspiring projects; it will bring great disappointment, and will prove destruction in the end.”

We can rest assured that God loves us and wants to bestow the best gifts.

But not everything we contrive is the right course of action. We must ask ourselves, “Is this just a good idea, or is it a God idea?” Every good and perfect gift, blessing, and promotion comes from above, from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning (James 1:17).

Do you want to be exalted and successful in whatever you do? Learn to humble yourself and pray as Jesus prayed, “Father, not my will, but your will be done.”

There is a God, and a divine plan for us, and things happen not by chance. Men forget that all things are ordained in heaven. The Lord reigns evermore. He puts down one, and sets up another. He is at work behind the scene of our lives. The foolish dream that He is not, but He is near even now. Pray and patiently wait for things to come to pass, not in our own timing, but in His.

Except You Abide in the Vine

“Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine, no more can you, except you abide in Me.” – John 15:4

In the parable (allegory) of the vine tree, Jesus compares Himself to the “True Vine” because when we come to salvation, we are spiritually born again and given a special position as a branch on the Tree of life, which is Jesus the Messiah. He alone is the only Savior that can give us eternal life; all others are false prophets and false religions.

God the Father, on the other hand, is the “husbandman” (the farmer) that cultivates us as branches on the vine and tends to our care. He waters us every day, prunes our twigs, trims our leaves, and makes sure we are receiving the right amount of sunshine and nutrients from the ground.

But Jesus reminds us that unless we continue to abide in Him, we cannot bear good fruit or flourish as one of His branches, since a branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless we abide in the source of nourishment – the tree.

To abide comes from the original Greek word, menō, which means: to remain, continue, abide or live in. If the branch is broken, snapped or disconnected in any way from the vine or tree, the life-giving support cannot continue to flow. Without the tree’s nourishment, the branch will eventually wither and die. Likewise, the life of Christ can only continue to flow in us as long as we abide in Him by:

  • Studying the Word of God daily, keeping it continually in our hearts and minds, and letting it guide our lives.
  • Maintaining the habit of prayer and communion with the Holy Spirit in order to draw new and fresh strength from Him.
  • Obeying God’s commandments and endeavoring to live pleasing to Him.
  • Attending church regularly and loving the fellowship of the brethren.
  • Witnessing for Jesus everywhere we go and helping to bring lost souls to salvation.

We will continue to abide in Christ if we follow the above guidelines. As we do, we will also continue to bear the kind of good fruit He desires from us as His disciples and remain eternally secure in our salvation.

“I am the vine, you are the branches; he that abideth in Me, and I in him,” Jesus said, “the same brings forth much fruit [not some fruit, but much fruit]. For with Me you can do nothing.” – John 15:5

Comment from Donna: “This morning I was thinking about being grafted into the vine and what it means. I was thinking of the fact that the power that flows from the vine to us is LOVE. It is his love that gives us life. That is what the two great commandments were all about: LOVE. It’s not about what we do, per say, it is about how we LOVE God first and then others. All the instructions that you gave for abiding in the vine can be summed up in: LOVE GOD, LOVE OTHERS. May the Lord truly bless you for your service to Christ!”

Let God speak through you

Luis Josephus 1“Trust in the LORD (Jehovah) with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths. Be not wise in your own eyes… “ – Proverbs 3:5-7

Many times as I sit down to write these inspirational messages, I have no idea what I’m going to say. I study the Bible, pray and ask God to speak through me, and by faith the words begin to flow from my mind unto my computer.

Afterwards, people will hit the “Like” button or email me that the message touched their hearts and came to them “at just the right time.” I cannot take any credit for this since it was God who obviously directed the whole thing. He gave me my message, and placed it in the right place at the right time, for someone who needed to hear it.

God wants to use you too.

As you humbly make yourself available in God’s service (whatever area that may be), He too will direct your paths. Do not measure your success on how precisely you accomplished your task or how eloquently you delivered your speech, but by what God did through you. Simply pray and make yourself available for God’s anointing to rest upon you. He will do the rest.

God can do great and mighty things through the humblest person who trusts Him implicitly, and allows His divine Spirit to direct their paths.

PRAYER:

Heavenly Father, I trust you completely with my life. Guide me everyday in the paths that I must follow, and use me to be a blessing to others. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Believe His Prophets

“…Hear me, O Judah, and you inhabitants of Jerusalem; Believe in the LORD your God, so shall you be established; believe his prophets, so shall you prosper.” – 2 Chronicles 20:20

When King Jehoshaphat faced the greatest crisis of his life – an enormous invading army from Moab and Ammon – he turned to God in an exemplary manner. He led his people to prayer and fasting, as we all should do under seemingly impossible circumstances.

God then spoke through the prophet Jahaziel. The man of God encouraged the people and said:

“You shall not need to fight in this battle: set yourselves, stand you still, and see the salvation of the LORD with you, O Judah and Jerusalem: fear not, nor be dismayed; tomorrow go out against them: for the LORD will be with you.” – 2 Chronicles 20:17

The next morning, the LORD God gave them a miraculous victory – just as the prophet had predicted.

The assembled men of Judah marched in accordance with the words of the prophet to the wilderness of Tekoa. As they marched forth, Jehoshaphat stood and called upon them to trust firmly in the Lord and His prophets. He ordered them to march, not for battle, but to assure themselves in faith, of the wonderful help of the LORD. He placed the singers of the Lord in front singing praise in holy array, marching forth before the army and thanking the Lord in advance for the help He would deliver.

Matthew Henry comments: “Jehoshaphat exhorted his troops to firm faith in God. Faith inspires a man with true courage; nor will anything help more to the establishing of the heart in shaking times, than a firm belief of the power, and mercy, and promise of God. In all our trust in the Lord, and our praises of him, let us especially look at his everlasting mercy to sinners through Jesus Christ. Never was an army so destroyed as that of the enemy. Thus God often makes wicked people destroy one another. And never was a victory celebrated with more solemn thanksgivings.”

When they began to sing and praise the LORD, their enemies were discomfited and began to fight among themselves. They were smitten by God without Judah having to lift a hand against them.

In times of crisis we should also fast and pray, believe upon His Word, and seek out God’s true prophets for understanding.

In addition to His written Word, Jesus has appointed prophets in the New Testament church to give us special revelation from God during troubling events, as well as day-to-day guidance for our spiritual lives. Contrary to what dispensational churches falsely teach, the Eternal God is still speaking today through His true prophets. They are men and women of God who He has raised to preach, teach, and prophesy under the anointing of the Holy Spirit. Only when we listen and obey God’s prophets shall our Christian lives be firmly established, and everything we do shall prosper and succeed.

God’s In-Box

Spirit-Lifting Thoughts for Today_150 x 150_jpg“All whom My Father gives (entrusts) to Me will come to Me; and the one who comes to Me I will most certainly not cast out [I will never, no never, reject one of them who comes to Me].” – John 6:37 (Amp)

Most mornings after I pray and have a cup of coffee, I log-on to my laptop computer and check my email messages. I start hitting the “Delete” button, trying to clean-out the dozens of messages I don’t have the time, or desire to read. Messages like those from scam ministries asking for money, or advertisers attempting to sell me cheap watches or fabulous vacations in Tobingo – all kinds of “Junk Email” that clutters my email box every day.

Recently, I wondered how God handles all the email He gets. If He had an email address, that is, it might be something like: “OneTrueGod@gmail.com.” Would He read every email He received? Or, would He delete many of them without opening, like I do? Actually, I believe He would read every single one! Here’s why: I believe our God loves to hear from us anytime we want to talk with Him. And He doesn’t get bored with us like other people do. He enjoys every conversation we have with Him. He is never too busy to listen to us when we visit with Him in prayer.

Gods In Box_jpgIn fact, He tells us to pray unceasingly.

God loves us so much that when we honestly let him know about what’s going on in our lives – our needs, feelings, hurts, and even complaints, we always have His full attention. God is the most compassionate and best friend we will ever have. We can talk to Him about anything. He will never be judgmental or criticize us for what we say, or for expressing our feelings no matter how dumb. He has promised to “be there” for us any time of the day or night, twenty four hours a day, seven days a week.

“…casting all your care(s) upon Him, for He cares for you.” – 1 Peter 5:7

So next time you need to talk with someone, talk with God first.

Prayer is the best (IM) Instant Messenger – better than chatting on Google or Facebook. You can chat with God without needing a computer or Internet service. He is always ready to listen, and your message will never be deleted from His In-Box.

P R A Y E R

Heavenly Father, I thank You for your unfailing love and concern for me. I thank You that I can come to You in prayer with all my needs, feelings, hurts, and complaints, 24/7. You will always be glad to hear from me. And as I cast all my cares upon You, You will care for me, understand me, and give me the right advice. I can always come before Your throne room of grace and receive mercy and compassion in my time of need. I bless You and praise You today. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.

Our Primary Purpose in Life

Spirit-Lifting Thoughts for Today_150 x 150_jpg“The people living in darkness have seen a great light…” – Matthew 4:16

One may be a pastor, evangelist, deacon, missionary, or business person, but if we are not striving to lead others to the light of Jesus Christ we are not doing the primary work that God has called us to do.

Most people living in the world today are living in darkness because they don’t know God. They may believe in God, but they really don’t know Him. Until a person is spiritually  “born again” he or she is lost (whether they realize it or not). They need to be told about Jesus; that He was the Great Light that came into this world to die on the cross for our sins.

Won’t you let God use you today to pray for those you know who need Jesus? There is no greater work for us to do than to help lead others to Christ. We may think we’re just this tiny little candle burning in the midst of great darkness, but God can still use us in a mighty way, if we allow Him.

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, I thank you that You have brought me out of darkness and into Your kingdom of light through Jesus Christ. Help me to help others come to know Your salvation. Use me to shine the light of Jesus wherever I go and whatever I do. Amen.
