No More Condemnation

GuiltMany people struggle with constant guilt and self-condemnation for their past actions. Most of us wish we could correct the mistakes we’ve made, but we can’t. What’s done is done. All we can do is learn from the past and avoid repeating the same errors in the future.

I have to admit that I have plenty of reasons to feel guilty for my own past.

Before I accepted Christ, I did some pretty terrible things (I think we all have). But after I was saved and spiritually born-again, I repented before God almighty and all these past sins were forgiven. My slate was washed clean, and I began living a new life in Christ. Behold, the old life is now a thing of the past and all things have become new.

I received the indwelling of God’s Holy Spirit that guides me each and every day to do what is right, instead of what is wrong, to make good choices in my new life, and avoid the wrong choices I was so inclined to make in my former life. I can sincerely say, that since I accepted Christ my life has radically changed for the better. If you are a Christian, I’m sure you can say the same thing about yourself. If not, then maybe you are not really saved at all.

Does that mean that Born-Again Christians can no longer sin?

Of course not. We can still sin and make poor choices if we choose to, but we no longer have to. Sin has no more power over us. And when we do sin, we know what to do: Confess and ask God to forgive us once again, and the blood of Jesus Christ cleanses us of all unrighteousness.

Sometimes, however, we try to hang on to our guilt and self-condemnation. We feel like God is angry with us, when He is not. It is usually Satan, our enemy, who is playing with our thoughts and emotions in this manner. Your heart and mind is one of his favorite targets. He shoots the flaming arrows of guilt and shame at us, with the intent of keeping us down.

Condemnation:

* Is from Satan
* Looks to Self
* Makes Us Believe We Can’t Change
* Leads to Old Identity
* Ends in Despair

So, how do we fight back against these satanic attacks? The Book of Ephesians tells us to take up the Shield of Faith and extinguish these fiery missiles (thoughts of guilt and self-condemnation) and prevent them from having any influence over us. We must remind the devil that “there is no more condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus.” We are now children of the Most High God, and Jesus Christ has redeemed us from the penalty of sin and death.

It is written.

In the wilderness, when Jesus was attacked by Satan with temptations and lies, Jesus fought back by reminding the devil, “It is written, it is written, it is written.” We also need to fight back with God’s Word. Next time you are attacked with guilt and self-condemnation, resist the devil and remind him that God loves you, you have been redeemed by the precious blood of Christ, and there is now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus.

Nature Testifies of God’s Love

When you look at Nature it greatly testifies of God’s love. Our Heavenly Father is the source of all life, wisdom, beauty and happiness. Look at the wonderful creation He has made. Think of His unfailing provision for, not only of man, but of all living creatures. The sunshine and the rain, that gladden and refresh the earth, the hills and seas and plains, all speak to us of the Creator’s love. It is God who infinitively supplies every need. In the inspiring words of the psalmist–

“The eyes of all wait upon You;
And You give them their food in due season.
You open Your hand,
And satisfy the desire of every living thing.”

– Psalm 145:15, 16.

God made man perfectly holy and happy; and the fair earth, as it came from the Creator’s hand, bore no blight of decay or shadow of cursing. It was the transgression of God’s divine law–the law of love—that has brought woe and death. Yet even amid the suffering that results from man’s transgression, God’s love is still revealed. God’s desire is to uplift man from the ruin and degradation that his sin has wrought. Man’s ruin of this world is not all sorrow and misery. In nature itself are messages of hope and comfort. There are flowers upon the thistles, and roses among the thorns. “God is love” is written upon every opening bud, upon every blade of springing grass. The lovely birds making the air lively with their happy songs, the perfuming air of fragrant flowers, the lofty trees of the forest with their rich foliage of living green — all testify to the tender, fatherly care of our God and to His desire to make His children happy.

The Father tenderly loves you

God's love

“At that day you will ask in My Name, and I am not saying that I will ask the Father on your behalf (for it will be unnecessary). For the Father Himself (tenderly) loves you because you have loved Me and have believed that I came from the Father.” – John 16:26,27 (Amp)

We know that Jesus often referred to God as His “Father,” but God is also the Father of all His creation, that includes you and I as well. We are the children of the Most High God, creator and sustainer of the entire universe.

At the beginning of creation, God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness” (Genesis 1:26), therefore, we are His offspring, made in the image of God – spirit, soul and body. That’s why God loves us so much, because we are created in His likeness.

If you have ever had any children of your own, people will often say, “Why, he looks just like his father,” or “She looks just like her mother.” This generally produces a good sense of pride within us to be reminded that are children our uniquely ours, a product of our own bodies and genetic DNA.I believe God, our heavenly Father, looks at us within the same sense of pride and accomplishment. He views us with the same eyes of love that we also view our children with.

God loves that we love Jesus.

”…For the Father Himself (tenderly) loves you because you have loved Me and have believed that I came from the Father.”

Jesus said that God tenderly loves us because we love Jesus and believe that Jesus came from God the Father.

Do you love Jesus? Do you believe that Jesus came from God the Father? Do you believe that Jesus died on the cross to pay the penalty for your sins? Have you invited Jesus Christ [Messiah] to be the Savior and Lord of your life?

If so, the Bible gives us this wonderful promise in John 3:16-17:

“For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only [unique] Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him.”

Do you fully understand what that is saying? God loves us so much that He sent His unique Son, Jesus Christ, not to condemn us, but to save us. That’s the greatest news isn’t it? We don’t need to be afraid of Jesus; He is not our enemy, but our friend! He wasn’t sent into this world by God the Father to hurt us, but to help us, so that we would not be punished for our sins and be lost forever. Jesus wants to demonstrate His love for us by giving us the gift of salvation and eternal life.

Forgetting those things in the past.

“…but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before…” Philippians 3:13

Do you want to experience God’s love today? Do you want to forget all the bad things you’ve done in the past and begin a new life today? Do you want to be forgiven of your sins and receive the promise of eternal life?

If so, pray this prayer with me right now:

”Dear Jesus, I believe you are the unique Son of God who died in my place on the cross. Please forgive me of my sins. I invite you to become the Savior and Lord of my life. Amen.”

If you prayed this prayer today and received God’s free gift of salvation through Jesus Christ, write us and let us know so that we can rejoice with you and welcome you into the redeemed family of God. If you don’t have a Bible and need one, we’ll also be happy to send you one free of charge for you to study.

We love you in Christ, as God the Father loves you. Amen.

There is a name I love to hear
I love to sing its worth
It sounds like music in my ear
The sweetest name on earth

O how I love Jesus
O how I love Jesus
O how I love Jesus
Because He first loved me

The eyes of all Your creatures look to You, our heavenly Father, and you give them their food at the proper time. When you open your hand, you satisfy the hunger and thirst of every living thing.”

God made man perfect, holy and happy, and the earth to be His habitation. It came from the Creator’s hand without blight of decay, or sin or cursing. It was the transgression of God’s divine law–the law of faith—that has brought misery and death. Yet despite the suffering that results from man’s transgression, God’s love is still revealed. Justified by grace alone

“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast.” – Ephesians 2:8,9.

“Therefore, because we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Messiah, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And werejoice in the hope of the glory of God.” – Romans 5:1-2.

The whole of the Christian life is the result of God’s grace of which we have access through faith in Jesus. What exactly is “grace”? The grace of God is His unmerited favor. We don’t deserve it, but He gives us His favor anyway. He gives us His forgiveness, His acceptance into His family, and His empowerment to accomplish His will for our lives.

Like the apostle Paul, I was the worst of sinners before I accepted Jesus as my Savior and Lord. I assure you that I would have never qualified to be called a “Christian” based on the rebellious life I had previously lived. But God had mercy on me and drew me to repentance and faith in His Son Jesus, who paid the price for all the bad things I ever did. His precious blood cleansed me of all my ugly filthy stains and allowed me to stand before a Holy God looking as white as snow.

Grace underscores the love, compassion and generosity of God in justifying (clearing of guilt) sinners like ourselves. When we believe in His Son, we are declared righteous in God’s sight. Not by our own merits, but by the merits of Jesus the Messiah who was righteous on our behalf. By raising Jesus from the dead, God the Father declared both His approval of Messiah’s complete work of redemption and His approval of all of us who believe.
