Better days are ahead.

Rising Sun_jpg For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” – Jeremiah 29:11

Many of us have gone through traumatic and painful circumstances in life that have left us deeply hurt, used, abused, and rejected. As a result, we have been mentally and emotionally scarred which can keep us feeling unworthy, depressed, and mistrustful of others. We remain apprehensive of the future and doubtful of ever being happy again.

These experiences can also distort our image of God. We may ask ourselves, “How can a good and loving Father allows us to be hurt in this way?”

God’s love and mercy has never failed us.

We need to reaffirm to ourselves that no matter what other people do to us and no matter what trials we may experience, God loves us with an unfailing love. He is fully aware of every hurt we’ve experience and every tear that we’ve shed. In fact, our heavenly Father is already working on our behalf to make things better. He will turn something bad in our lives into something that will actually turn out for our good.

The Scriptures promise us “…God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.” – Romans 8:28

We may not always understand why God permits things to happen, but we can trust Him to somehow turn it around for our good.

Righteous Job suffered pain and loss.

The life of Job is a good example of how God is a God of restoration. Job was a man that God had nothing but good things to say about him. He told Satan, “Have you considered my servant Job? There is no one on earth like him; he is blameless and upright, a man who honors God and shuns evil.” – Job 1:8

Yet despite Job’s goodness, Satan hated him and set out to destroy him, his family, and all he possessed. But through all his loss and pain, Job never lost his faith and commitment to honor God. His own wife even tried to persuade him to “Curse God and die.” Job rebuked her foolishness and bad advice. He also declared his unswerving trust in God, “Though He slay me, yet will I trust Him.” – Job 13:15

After Job went through his time of testing and affliction, God worked all the bad things that happened for his good. When Job proved faithful to trust God in all circumstances, God restored his joy, peace, health, and finances. He even gave him a new wife and more children. In fact, Job lived a good long life and his latter days proved to be better that his former days. The LORD paid him back double for all his previous loss.

God will do the same for you.

Your heavenly Father loves you so much that He will heal every emotional would, help you to love again, and restore everything that Satan has stolen from you. Your latter days will be better than the first, and you will live a long life to enjoy it. You’re going to come out stronger, healthier and happier than you’ve ever been.

So shake off any negative, defeated or bitter mindset. Stop walking around feeling hurt, depressed or thinking about the past. Reaffirm your faith in God’s love and goodness. If you’ve stopped going to church, get into a good church that honors Jesus and preaches an edifying message. Pray and spend time alone with God daily. Do your best to live a good and righteous life of faith that pleases God. Tell others about the changes Jesus has made in your life. If you do these things, God will bless your life in a way you never thought possible.

Pray the following prayer today:

”Dear good and gracious Father, I thank You that You will turn around all these negative experiences for my good. I love You and trust You no matter what. I also thank you that you will pay me back double for my trouble, and better days are ahead for me. I believe it and declare it so, in Jesus’ name, amen.”

God can fix your mess

Mess into a messageAre you in a mess today?

Did you marry the wrong person, get involved in a business matter you should have avoided, or perhaps done something that has gotten you into trouble?

Was God warning you not to do it? Did you ignore His still, small voice inside of you, but you still went ahead and did it? You know you have no one to blame but yourself. You take full responsibility for your mistake. Are you wondering if God can still help you?

Yes He will.

He is a God of mercy and forgiveness. If you will fess up when you mess up and call upon His help, He will deliver you.

The prophet Jonah messed up big time. But the LORD Yehovah delivered him from all his troubles. He testified afterwards, I called to the LORD in my distress, and He answered me. I cried out for help in the belly of Sheol; You heard my voice.” – Jonah 2:2

Jonah in whale bellyGod had called Jonah to go to Nineveh and preach salvation to this evil nation. They were the despised enemies of the Jews so Jonah didn’t want to go. He decided to rebel against God and headed to Tarshish – in the opposite direction. His foolish decision almost cost him his life. A great storm engulfed the ship he was traveling in and he ended up tossed overboard into the belly of a huge whale for 3 days. God miraculously prevented the digestive acids of the whale from harming Jonah. Afterwards, the whale spewed him out unto dry land. God gave Jonah another chance, and he took it.

God is good at saving us from the dumb things we do.

It’s amazing how He can even turn the biggest blunders we make into something that actually turns out for our good. The apostle Paul wrote, And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.” – Romans 8:28

If you call upon Him in humility and faith, God can clean up your mess right now. Don’t be too proud or too stubborn to confess your faults to Him. He is very understanding. Pray and admit your were foolish and rebellious; you didn’t listen when He tried to warn you, and did what you knew better not to do. Ask Him to get you out of this mess and give you another chance to get it right. Pray and ask your heavenly Father to forgive you and restore you, in Jesus’ name, amen.

Grateful to God in all things

Grace For Today“Rejoice always, pray constantly, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”1 Thessalonians 5:16–18

An attitude of gratitude is a decision we must make every morning when we get out of bed – even when we don’t feel like it. Remember that each new day is a gift from God. The fact that we woke up at all is a blessing from God.

Even though you may have money troubles, physical ailments, rebellious children or other complaints, choose to give thanks to God in all circumstances. Don’t just thank Him for when things are going good in your life, but also for the things that are going wrong. Even our chastisements and corrections are a demonstrations of God’s love, and His design for our benefit. If we truly are trusting Jesus Christ as the Lord of our lives, then we should be confident that He is working ALL things out for our good (Romans 8:28).

Be careful not to quench the Holy Spirit by indulging in self-pity, resentment or bitterness. In everything give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus. As you do, He will reward you with His peace, joy, nearness and comfort. A truly victorious life in Christ is a life of constant joy.

FAITH STEP

Think of five things you are grateful for and concentrate on those today. Praise God for them and submit to His divine wisdom in allowing them into your life.

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, I praise You and thank You for everything in my life today – not only for the good, but also for any adversity I may be experiencing. I choose to have an attitude of gratitude, for I know you are working all things out for my good. I thank You especially for my salvation in Christ Jesus; for forgiving me of my sins and redeeming me with His precious blood. Amen.
