Feed the Flock of God

shepherd-sheep“Take heed, therefore, unto yourselves, and all the flock, over which the Holy Ghost has made you overseers, to feed the church of God which He has purchased with His own blood.” – Acts 20:28

This classic verse emphasizes the great responsibility of pastors and overseers of the Christian churches. The members of the local congregation are likened to a flock of sheep who follow their earthly shepherds (as well as to Christ) that guide them and teach them in the way of God.

Pastors are responsible to feed the flock – the members of his congregation, with sound biblical teaching, counseling and spiritual guidance. They are also to protect their sheep from the spiritual dangers of ungodly wolves and other predators who may try to devour the sheep by introducing false doctrines, inciting strife and division in the church, or even shipwrecking their faith.

Day by day, the pastors of your church have an awesome task to do in shepherding the flock of God. They need your constant prayers on their behalf, and your faithful support in meeting their needs. Be generous in your giving to the church, and make yourself readily available to volunteer for whatever help their ministry requires.

Show Us The Father

Pastor Luis Yosefus

“Philip said, ‘Lord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us.’ Jesus answered: ‘Don’t you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? Don’t you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words I say to you are not just my own. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work. Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me…” – John 14:8-11

When the Apostle Philip asked Jesus to show him God the Father, previously he had not fully understood who Jesus the Messiah really was. Due to God’s custom of progressive revelation, many of us, like Philip, start out as “Baby Christians” and progressively grow into adult Christians as time passes.  We receive Jesus Christ as our Savior and Lord and begin a lifelong spiritual journey whereby we grow stronger in our faith, more and more each day.  In the beginning, the Holy Spirit who indwells us feeds us primarily with spiritual baby’s milk, but as we grow as followers of Christ, He weans us away from the milk and begins to feed us solid food, when He sees that we are ready. As a result, our spiritual maturity and understanding is increased and greater revelation of who God is is given to us.

Such was the case with the Apostle Philip, when he reached a new milestone in his understanding of Jesus as God in the flesh.  He asked the Lord, “Show us the Father”. And Jesus responded. “Have I been with you these three-and-a-half years and you still don’t recognize the fact that I am God?” Immediately, Philip’s eyes were opened and he realized for the first time that Yeshua, [Jesus], his Jewish Rabbi, had been the God he had been searching for all along. Jesus Himself confirmed this to Philip and the other Disciples when He emphatically stated “Believe Me that I am in the Father (God) and the Father is in me.” –John 14:11

Elsewhere, he also stated to them, “If you had [really] known Me, you would have known [God], the Father, also: Henceforth, you now know God and have seen him: I am standing right in front of you.” (John 14:7)

Do you believe Jesus is God?

It’s important that your Christian Faith is founded on sound doctrine, because we are living in the last days before the return of our Lord Jesus Christ. False teachers abound in the Church today; some even deny the divinity of Jesus. But those who are making their calling an election sure (2Peter 1:10) will never be moved away from the sure foundation of Christ’s teachings. We must earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the apostles and saints of God from the very beginning (Jude 3).

Continuing In The Son And The Father

“Therefore let that abide in you, which you have heard from the beginning. If that which you have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, you also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father.” – 1 John 2:24

Pastor Luis Yosefus

More than ever before in Christian history, the true gospel of Jesus Christ [Messiah] is being distorted by anti-Christ’s who have entered the church and are deceiving many. The apostle John warned that some would even deny the divinity of Jesus as the Son of God:

“Whoever denies the Son, the same has not the Father…” – 1 John 2:23

Attacks on the Trinity.

You cannot have the assurance of true saving faith unless you accept the unalterable fact that Jesus was God in the flesh. Jesus spoke of His divinity over-and-over again when He declared that “the Father [God] and I are One.”

The foundational Christian doctrine of the Trinity the mysterious triune nature of God (i.e. God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit being One) has been attacked by anti-Christs almost since the inception of the church. Satan knows how vital this belief is to the faith of the New Testament believer. You cannot have the assurance of true saving faith unless you accept the unalterable fact that Jesus was God in the flesh. Jesus spoke of His divinity over-and-over again when He declared that “the Father [God] and I are One.” In fact, the religious leaders of His day found these statements of our Lord so offensive that they wanted to kill Jesus for speaking blasphemy, and making Himself equal with God. Nevertheless, Jesus spoke the truth. If the religious crowd had not been so blinded by their man-made traditions, they would have understood.

In order for us Christians to “continue in the Son and the Father”, we must remain in the original teachings of Jesus and the early apostles who taught the foundational doctrine of the Trinity. We don’t worship three Gods, as some accuse us of, but one God in three persons. Christians are monotheistic in their beliefs, just as Jews and Muslims are monotheistic. One of the differences between Christians and Jews, for instance, is that we have a better understanding of God. We believe that God in the person of Jesus Christ came down from heaven and died on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins. To follow preachers and churches who have abandoned this important truth of the original gospel is spiritually fatal and separates one from God.

False prophets and preachers abound.

Beware of many today who are preaching “another Jesus, and another gospel”
(2 Corinthians 11:4); they have neither the Son, nor the Father because they have not continued in the original teachings of Messiah. Instead, they are preaching a compromised version of the gospel being motivated by their desire to increase their popularity and financial support. Do not be fooled by the apparent success and size of their mega-churches and ministries, God will eventually judge these anti-Christs and their ministries will come tumbling down. True believers must remain loyal to Jesus Christ and the true gospel at all costs. Our very souls and eternal destinies depend on it.

For this reason, it is crucial that every believer study the Holy Scriptures for themselves and allow the Holy Spirit, “The Spirit of Truth”, to guide you into all truth (1 John 2:27).

Religious Syncretism

Questions & Answers

Questions & Answers

The following article was reprinted from www.GotQuestions.org

I believe it contains some very useful information that will expose new light on today’s current trend among the Protestant churches to introduce a “mixture” of foreign religious philosophies or pagan practices with Christianity.

Some examples of Syncretism might include “Christian Yoga”, “Christian Psychology”, “The Ecumenical Movement” (the false teaching that all religions lead to God), and the general incorporation of New Age occult teachings and practices into the church.

As the article states, “Religious Syncretism is not compatible with true Christianity… syncretism relies on the whim of man, not the standard of Scripture.”

Beware of so many Christian churches today that have fallen away from the true Christian faith by following the doctrines of men and demons. “Now the [Holy} Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils” – 1 Timothy 4:1.

Please pray for spiritual discernment to know truth vs. error, and be courageous enough to “come out” from among them and be separate, says the LORD (2 Corinthians 2:17).

We speak the truth in love,

Question: “What is religious syncretism?”

Answer: Syncretism, as defined by the American Heritage Dictionary, is “the reconciliation or fusion of differing systems of belief.” This is most evident in the areas of philosophy and religion, and usually results in a new teaching or belief system. Obviously, this cannot be reconciled to biblical Christianity.

Religious syncretism often takes place when foreign beliefs are introduced to an indigenous belief system and the teachings are blended. The new, heterogeneous religion then takes a shape of its own. This has been seen most clearly in Roman Catholic missionary history. Take, for example, the Roman Catholic Church’s proselytizing of animistic South America. Threatened with the fear of death, natives were baptized into the church by the tens of thousands without any preaching of the Gospel whatsoever. Former temples were razed, with Catholic shrines and chapels built on the same spot. Natives were allowed to substitute praying to saints instead of gods of water, earth and air, and replaced their former idols with new images of the Roman Catholic Church. Yet, the animistic religion the natives had formerly practiced was never fully replaced—it was adapted into Catholic teachings, and this new belief system was allowed to flourish.

More recently, religious syncretism can be seen in such religious systems as the New Age, Hinduism, Unitarianism, and Christian Science. These religions are a blending of multiple different belief systems, and are continually evolving as the philosophies of mankind rise and fall in popularity.

Therein lies the problem, for syncretism relies on the whim of man, not the standard of Scripture. The Bible makes it very clear what true religion is. Think on just a few things stated in Scripture: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind” (Deuteronomy 6:5; Matthew 22:37); “Jesus replied, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me'” (John 14:6); “Jesus did many other miraculous signs in the presence of his disciples, which are not recorded in this book. But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name” (John 20:31-32); and “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12).

Religious syncretism is simply not compatible with true Christianity. In fact, any modification to biblical law and principle for the sake of a “better” religion is heresy (Revelation 22:18-19).
