Feed the Flock of God

shepherd-sheep“Take heed, therefore, unto yourselves, and all the flock, over which the Holy Ghost has made you overseers, to feed the church of God which He has purchased with His own blood.” – Acts 20:28

This classic verse emphasizes the great responsibility of pastors and overseers of the Christian churches. The members of the local congregation are likened to a flock of sheep who follow their earthly shepherds (as well as to Christ) that guide them and teach them in the way of God.

Pastors are responsible to feed the flock – the members of his congregation, with sound biblical teaching, counseling and spiritual guidance. They are also to protect their sheep from the spiritual dangers of ungodly wolves and other predators who may try to devour the sheep by introducing false doctrines, inciting strife and division in the church, or even shipwrecking their faith.

Day by day, the pastors of your church have an awesome task to do in shepherding the flock of God. They need your constant prayers on their behalf, and your faithful support in meeting their needs. Be generous in your giving to the church, and make yourself readily available to volunteer for whatever help their ministry requires.

New Cuba and Israel Friendship

“Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee.” – Psalm 122:6

Israel’s Prime Minister, Binyamin Netanyahu and President Shimon Peres sent a letter of thanks to former Cuban dictator Fidel Castro for his words of support for Israel’s right to exist and empathy with the tragedies of Jewish history.

Castro, in a recent interview with The Atlantic Magazine, said Israel “without a doubt” has the right to exist, and criticized Iranian President Mahmoud Admadinejad for his Holocaust denial, saying Iran should understand the consequences of theological anti-Semitism.

“I don’t think anyone has been slandered more than the Jews,” Castro said. “I would say much more than Muslims…because they are blamed and slandered for everything. No one blames the Muslims for anything.” (Read full article, The Jerusalem Post, September 26, 2010, pag. 2).

To hear these words of support for Israel from Fidel Castro has surprised Jews and Christians around the world, but are warmly welcomed, to be sure.

I am a Christian Zionist…Are You?

Christian_zionism  If you are a Bible-believing follower of Jesus the Messiah, you are a Christian Zionist” too. The Bible clearly teaches that the Jewish people – the descendents of Abraham through Isaac and Jacob, were the chosen people of God to bring forth His divine message (laws and commandments), and the Savior of all mankind, Jesus the Christ (Hebrew: Yeshua Ha Mashiach).

Therefore, we must love the Jewish people, pray for their salvation and deliverance from unbelief, and support the State of Israel. Let us not succumb to the pressures of political correctness exerted by the liberal media and politicians for a two-state solution in Israel. The land of Israel and the City of Jerusalem rightfully belong to the Jewish people – not the Arabs. This Holy land was given to the Jews by God Himself thousands of years ago, and must not be divided-up between two nations. Let the Palestinians Arabs find somewhere else to establish their nation in the vast territories of the Middle East owned by their Arab brothers. We must see through the facade of the Muslim religious agenda in using the Palestinians as political pawns to persecute the Jewish people and establish Muslim domination of the world.

Definition of Christian Zionism

According to David Krush, of the Jewish Virtual Library, Christian Zionism is defined as: “…Christian support for the Zionist cause – the return of the Jewish people to its biblical homeland in Israel. It is a belief among some Christians that the return of Jews to Israel is in line with biblical prophecy, and is necessary for Jesus to return to Earth as its king. These Christians are partly motivated by the writings of the Bible and the prophets…”Christian Zionists interpret both the Torah [Old Testament Books of Moses] and the New Testament as prophetic texts that describe future events of how the world [as we know it] will one day end with the return of Jesus from Heaven to rule on Earth. Israel [and the Jewish people] are central to their vision. They interpret passages from the books of Ezekiel, Daniel, and Isaiah as foreshadowing the coming Christian era.”
