God is closer than you think

A Helping Hand_jpgEven when we are going through trials and tribulations and God seems far away, stand on His promises of love, care and protection. Do not rely on your feelings – but on faith. God will never leave you, nor forsake you. God is in control; He is closer than you think.

Peace – A Place of Power

Grace For Today“And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 4:7

Did you know that peace is one of God’s weapons of strength and power to protect us in the midst of trials and tribulations? No matter what comes against us, no matter what difficulty surrounds us, the peace of God guards our hearts and minds like a shield. When we remain steadfast in our faith, God’s peace protects us from fear, panic, and turmoil. We can remain fearless and confident that “That the Lord will fight for us, and we shall hold our peace and remain at rest” (Exodus 14:14).

The finished work of the cross of Christ is God’s great stop sign. The devil may try to come against us like a flood at full speed, but when we put up the cross by faith, he slams on his brakes and comes to a screeching halt because he cannot pass the cross. Jesus steps in and blocks the way against all attacks and tells the devil he can pass no further. Peace will rule in the midst of storms.

It’s inconceivable to the carnal mind that peace could be considered a weapon – the very concept surpasses all human understanding. But God says it works, and it is powerful! Pray for God’s peace next time you’re facing a storm. Pray, “Lord, guard my heart and mind with your peace in Christ Jesus. Fill me with your source of power that will see me through this trial. Help me to wait upon You to fight for me, and to give me the ultimate victory. Amen.”

This man has done nothing wrong

When Jesus was crucified there were two criminals crucified next to Him. One of them mocked Jesus and said, “If you are the Messiah, save yourself and us.” But the other criminal defended Jesus and said, “We indeed receive our punishment as due reward for our [evil] deeds, but this man has done nothing wrong.” – Luke 23:39-41

Jesus indeed did nothing wrong.

He always obeyed the will of God the Father and fulfilled the just requirements of the Old Testament Law. He lived a sinless life and died on the cross – not for His sins, but for ours. The apostle Peter wrote of the vicarious sacrifice of Jesus:

“who committed no sin, Nor was deceit found in His mouth…Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree [the cross], that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness…” – 1 Peter 2:22-24

Many times we get confused and wonder about the difficult circumstances that afflict our lives. “Is God mad at me?”, we ask ourselves. “Have I done something wrong?” Many of these questions and doubts are generally unfounded because trials, tribulations, and suffering are a normal part of the Christian life. When they occur, we are to follow Jesus’ example of patience, and respond to these difficulties and persecutions with prayer and blessings. When Jesus was reviled, He did not revile in return; when He suffered, He did not threaten or react bitterly, but committed Himself to Him (God the Father) who always judges and responds righteously (1 Peter 2:23).

Remember that your circumstances do not alter God’s love for you, nor His concern for your well being. He continues to love you and watch over you no matter what you may have to undergo. Regardless of what difficulty you’re going through today, commit yourself to God’s care and ultimate deliverance. He will give you the grace and strength to see you through to victory.

Continue to live committed to your faith in Christ and His example of endurance, despite your difficult circumstances. This is the true test of your growth as a Christian and the testimony of a true follower of Jesus Christ.

You Raise Me Up

[Jesus] When I am down and, oh my soul, so weary; When troubles come and my heart burdened be; Then, I am still and wait here in the silence, Until you come and sit awhile with me.

You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains; You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas; I am strong, when I am on your shoulders; You raise me up… To more than I can be.

Naked, Exposed & Vulnerable

 TODAY’S SCRIPTURE

“For I am confident of this very fact, that He [God our Father] Who began a good work in you of salvation and transformation, will continue working until the day of Jesus the Messiah – right up to the time of His return, perfecting and bringing you to full completion.” – Philippians 1:6 (JCV)

 TODANaken, Exposed & VulnerableY’S COMMENTARY

Did you know that the lobster sheds his shell 14 times during his first year of life? Every shedding takes about 10 days. Each period between the shedding of his old shell and the growing of the new one, the lobster has no protective armor. He is naked, exposed and vulnerable to his environment, and almost helpless. But after each shedding, the lobster grows about 7 percent.

Sometimes our Christian Life is Like That.

There are times when we get frustrated with the way our lives are going – the irritations, unexpected surprises, detours, dead-ends, or simply the periods of boredom and impatience. We wonder, “Where is God in all this? I feel naked, exposed and vulnerable! Does God really love me? Is He really in control of my life?”

Yes, God is still in control.

There is never a time when your Heavenly Father is not aware of what you’re going through, or fully in control of your circumstances in order to produce growth. It may not seem like you’re growing at all, but you are.

Be assured that, even in the midst of His silent and invisible working, God is active in your life. He is busy molding, shaping, and refining all the time. Let it happen; don’t be in a rush. It is God who works in you to will and to act according to His good purpose. Do everything without complaining or arguing (Phil. 2:13-14).

Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and finisher of your faith. Live in obedience to Him, trust God to know what is best for you, and leave the rest up to Him.

 Wait on God.

Wait with God.

Wait for God.

 ————————————————

 PRAYER

Dear Heavenly Father, I thank you for my salvation and the good work you’ve started in me. I give You full control of my life because I trust in your wisdom. I know You will always do what’s best for me. Help me be submissive to your will, and to be patient in waiting upon you. In Jesus’ Name I pray, amen.

The God Who Comforts Us

“He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us.”– 2 Cor. 1:4

Many think that when God comforts us, our troubles should go away. But if that were always so, people would turn to God only out of a desire to be relieved of pain and not out of love for him. We must understand that being comforted can also mean receiving strength, encouragement, and hope to deal with our troubles.

If you are feeling overwhelmed, allow God to comfort you. But also remember that every trial you endure will help you comfort other people who are suffering similar troubles.

No weapon formed against you shall prosper

“No weapon that is formed against you will prosper; And every tongue that accuses you in judgment you will condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, And their vindication is from Me,” declares the LORD.” – Isaiah 54:17

God's Protection

God’s Protection

In the book of Job, Satan challenged God’s claim that Job was a faithful and righteous man. Satan argued that Job was only in it for the benefits – only because of God’s blessings upon his life and the hedge of protection that surrounded him. Take away these blessings, and Job would no longer remain faithful. Satan accused Job of only serving God for what he could get out of Him. “Okay”, said God, “I’ll allow you to test Job’s faith, but you can only go so far.” Job’s faith was then greatly tested. He temporarily lost his possessions, his family, and even his health, but he came through with flying colors in the end. His faith and devotion to God remained strong.

God demonstrated through Job’s example that saving faith cannot be destroyed no matter how much trouble the believer suffers. After failing to destroy Job’s faith, Satan suffered defeat and disappeared from the story, but not from the scene. He still remains God’s archenemy inflicting discouragement and harm at times in every believer’s life. But God will protect and strengthen us, and remind us of His promises that “no weapon formed against us shall prosper, and that every tongue that accuses you in false judgment He will condemn.”

If this message has been an encouragement to you, please write to me and let me know. I greatly appreciate hearing from you.
