Israel’s True Borders

Thirteen books of the Bible speak of the nation of Israel being restored to their land from the nations in which they were scattered. This prophecy became history in

1948 when the United Nations granted a homeland to the Jewish people and the Nation of Israel was reborn. However, the land that the State of Israel occupies today is only a fraction of the entire amount of land actually promised by God.

Yehovah God didn’t promise the Jewish people Pre-1967 borders, He promised them the entire land of Israel – from the Egyptian River as far as the River Euphrates. When Jesus the Messiah returns again, the Nation of Israel will have its land restored to the fullest.

Yehovah God’s eternal covenant with Abraham and his descendents:

“When the sun had set and darkness had fallen, a smoking firepot with a blazing torch appeared and passed between the pieces. On that day the Lord made a covenant with Abram and said, “To your descendants [through Isaac] I give this land, from the river of Egypt to the great river, the Euphrates— the land of the Kenites, Kenizzites, Kadmonites, Hittites, Perizzites, Rephaites, Amorites, Canaanites, Girgashites and Jebusites.” – Genesis 15: 17-21

Jesus the Messiah will return and restore the Jews to the land of Israel from all the nations in which they were scattered.

”However, the days are coming,” declares the LORD, “when men will no longer say, ‘As surely as the LORD lives, who brought the Israelites up out of Egypt,’ but they will say, ‘As surely as the LORD lives, who brought the Israelites up out of the land of the north and out of all the countries where he had banished them.’ For I will restore them to the land I gave their forefathers. – Jeremiah 16:14-16

Did Rahab the ex-prostitute become a virtuous woman?

Many people will be surprised to discover that Jesus was not only a physical descendant of King David, but also of Rahab the ex-prostitute of Jericho. But, keep in mind, Rahab was a harlot who changed her ways and came before the living God in repentance.

Rahab was a Canaanite woman who ran an “Inn” in Jericho. It was actually a house of prostitution where men could spend the night with the woman of their choice. Murray Johnson writes:

“It is very important that we understand what the text really says about Rahab. It says Rahab was a harlot. What better place for the spies to hide out than at Rahab’s house? With all the comings and goings of a whorehouse, they could blend in easily. However, these men were on a righteous mission. “

Rahab was a prostitute herself. As a Canaanite, she was also a worshipper of a great number of deities of the Canaan religion, including Baal (god of fertility), Dagon (god of the crops) and Molech (god of fire). When Joshua sent two of his men to Jericho to spy out the city for destruction, they came to Rahab’s place. When the king of Jericho heard about their visit, he sent his soldiers to kill them. Rahab took sides – not with her own people – but with the children of Israel. She protected the two spies at great peril to her life, and hid them on her roof for three days. She also lied to the king’s soldiers and sent them on a wild goose chase. She told them that the spies had already left out of the city gate.

After the soldiers departed and the coast was clear, she went up to the roof and made them promise to protect her and her father, mother, brothers and sisters. The two spies agreed to protect her and her family when Joshua and his army returned to destroy the city.

Rahab’s confession of faith.

She declared, “…for the Lord your God is God in heaven above and on the earth below.”Joshua 2:11

Rahab’s faith in the God of Israel was greater than her fear. By embracing Yahovah God – the Eternal, living God, she was renouncing all pagan gods that she had once worshipped. The moment she made the confession of faith, “…for the LORD [Yahovah] your God is God in heaven above and on the earth below”, Rahab was saved from her sins, spiritually born-again, and accepted into God’s family. It did not matter that she was formerly a prostitute, or an idol worshipper, or whatever, God is no respecter of persons; whoever will come to Him in repentance and faith will be accepted by Him. Rahab is a prime example of how God loves to take the worst of sinners and turn them into saints. His arms are always open to anyone who feareth Him and worketh righteousness (Acts 10:34-35).

Rahab, the ex-prostitute, was transformed into a new creature in Christ.

Her faith was backed up by the evidence of good works when she risked her life to save the two spies. She is praised twice in the New Testament. The apostle James describes her justification by her good works:

”Likewise also was not Rahab the harlot justified by [good] works, when she had received the messengers and had sent them out another way?” (James 2:25)

Rahab’s faith and actions working together was approved of God who forgave her immoral past and justified her (acquitted her of guilt) in His sight.

The writer of Hebrews also praises Rahab in Hebrews 11:31. She perished not with the rest of her city when the walls of Jericho fell down and Joshua’s men killed all who lived there. Rahab’s faith and the scarlet thread she let hang down from her window was a type of the blood of Jesus Christ – the Messiah to come. It paralleled the Passover lamb. Just as the blood of the lamb was put on the houses of the Israelites in order to protect them from the judgment of God, so the scarlet line hanging from Rahab’s house brought safety and deliverance for her and her family.

Rahab marries a Jew.

After converting to Judaism, Rahab became a righteous woman. She joined herself  to the people of God, the children of Israel. She left her sordid past behind, continued to travel with the Israelites, and eventually married a Jewish man named Salmon of the tribe of Judah. Their marriage gave birth to Boaz who married Ruth, who birthed Obed, the father of Jesse, the father of King David.

What an amazing testimony of what God can do! He transformed a former prostitute into the ancestral grandmother of Israel’s greatest king – David, the man after God’s own heart. In Matthew’s geneology, even our Lord Jesus Christ was an ancestor of Salmon and Rahab (Matthew 1:1,5).

Whosoever calls on the Lord shall be saved.

If you’ve been struggling with a life of sin, or you have done something in your past that is so bad you’ve never told anyone, and you have wondered if God could ever forgive you, remember what He accomplished in the life of Rahab the ex-prostitute and idol worshipper from Jericho. There is no sin too big for God – He will forgive you if you sincerely repent and call upon His name in faith. There is always hope and forgiveness:

”And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.” – Acts 2:21

“Whoever” means you! There is no sin so grievous that Jesus cannot forgive. He died on the cross and shed His blood to forgive all types of sins – small sins as well as big sins. Call upon Jesus today and be forgiven and saved from your old life. He will give you a new life from this day forward and transform you into the man or woman He created you to be.

Pray this prayer right now:

Dear Jesus, I believe you are the Son of God who died on the cross for my sins. I repent of my past life. Please forgive me. I promise to live for you from this day forward. I receive you today as my Savior and Lord of my life. Amen.

If you just prayed this prayer, email us and let us rejoice with you.

Abraham’s Moral Weakness

Abraham n Sarah 2Although Abraham distinguished himself in Bible history as a man of great faith, he was not without fault. Like all believers in the true and living God, he made some mistakes, which he had to repent of, and receive God’s forgiveness.

There was one occasion in particular when Abraham failed to trust in Yahovah God’s protection and took matters into his own hands. When his life was endangered, Abraham put his wife Sarah in a position to be sexually defiled by another man in order to save his own skin.

The incident occurs in Egypt where Abraham had to take his family to find food (Genesis 12:10-20). At the time, there was a grievous famine in the land of Canaan where Abraham lived, and he was forced to travel to Egypt which had plenty.

Sarah’s Beauty

Even at 65 years of age, Sarah was still a beautiful woman and Abraham became fearful that the Egyptians would murder him in order to take his wife (a habit not uncommon in the Middle East). Therefore, Abraham asked Sarah to lie for him and tell the Egyptians she was his sister.

“Say, I pray thee, you are my sister; that it may be well with me for your sake; and my soul shall live because of you.” – Genesis 12:13

Unfortunately, the king of Egypt himself (Pharaoh) took an interest in Sarah’s beauty and brought her into his harem of many wives. But before he could have sexual relations with her, God stepped in to correct Abraham’s mistake. He sent a plague on Pharaoh and his household. When Pharaoh realized what was happening – that he was under a curse, he called for Abraham and confronted him with his deceit.

“What is it you have done to me? Why didn’t you tell me she was your wife? Why did you say, ‘She is my sister’? so that I might have taken her [sexually] to be my wife?” Now therefore, here is your wife back; take her and go your way.” – Genesis 12:18-19

Abraham’s failure to trust God to deliver him out of any trouble and resort to dishonoring his own wife shows us that Abraham’s  faith  was not yet fully developed; he was still morally weak. However, Abraham did much better as he grew older and wiser in his latter years.  As a matter of fact, Abraham became known as the “Father of our faith” because of his overall exemplary accomplishments (Hebrews 11:8-12).

We can certainly relate to Abraham, when we examine our own lives.

How often have we made mistakes of our own? How many times have we made fools of ourselves for making wrong choices, or failing to trust God as we should? But despite these early setbacks, we can hopefully look back on our own lives and see how much better we are today than yesterday, by the grace of God. How much stronger is our faith today than it used to be, how we have spiritually grown since we first believed.

Praise be to God for never giving up on us; His mercies are new every morning (Lam. 3:22-23). Stop punishing yourself for the mistakes of the past, and keep looking forward to the glorious future that God has destined for you. Remember that Jesus our Lord, is the “author” and “finisher” of our faith (Hebrews 12:2). He will never give up on us until He has completed his work in us. It’s not how you start the race that matters most, but how you finish.

Is war between Israel and Iran imminent?

According to the Israeli Prime Minister’s visit in Washington, DC this past weekend, war between Israel and Iran appears to be imminent. In one speech Benjamin Netanyahu declared:

“In the 20th century, the Jewish people have transformed from being defenseless and stateless into a strong and proud nation, fully capable of protecting itself. The Jewish state will never allow those who seek its destruction to hold means necessary to achieve such destruction. As the Prime Minister of the Israeli government, I will never have my people live in the shadow of annihilation.”

If we read between the lines, it appears that a preemptive strike by Israel against Iran to destroy their nuclear weapons is suggested by Netayahu’s statement, “…I will never have my people live in the shadow of annihilation.”

Previously, Iran has openly declared its intention to “destroy Israel off the map”, therefore, it would not be unreasonable to conclude that it will use its new nuclear weapons to do so. If that is the case, I don’t believe it would be wrong for Israel to protect itself before it is eventually attacked by Iran. Please pray that this war can be averted at all costs. But if it cannot, pray that Yahovah God, the Lord of hosts, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, will protect Israel and the Jewish people from all its enemies. They are still His chosen people and no weapon against them shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17).

Comment from AIPAC Executive Director Howard Kohr: “For twenty years, Israel has sounded the alarm about the dangers of Iran becoming a nuclear power in an attempt to avoid military confrontation by anyone. Israel has never treated force as the first resort. It has always been – and still is – the last resort. But Israel does not control the path Iran is on. If at some point, Israel – or anyone – must act – only Iran will be to blame.”

The Antichrist will unite all world religions into one and cause all who follow him to be condemed forever.

The Antichrist will unite all world religions into one and cause all who follow him to be condemed forever.

– By Pastor Luis Yosefus.

Years ago before I received Jesus as my Savior and Lord I experimented with other religions – Hinduism, Buddhism, New Age, Metaphysics and the like. One of the common threads of these false religions was the teaching that “All paths lead to God. It doesn’t matter what you believe as long as you believe in god.” Not true.

When I became a Christian and began to study the Bible, I realized that I had been deceived for many years by these counterfeit religions that had claimed to show me the way to God. Even today, I often come across Muslims, for instance, who tell me, “You and I worship the same god. Allah is the same god as your Christian God.” I quickly correct them, “No He is not! The God of the Jews and Christians is not the same god you worship. The true God, King of the universe is not Allah, but Yahovah. You are worshipping a false god, I’m sorry to say.” Muslims usually get offended when they hear this, but as they say, the truth always hurts. However I always pray for the deceived to come to the knowledge of the truth.

Jesus is the only way.

Yahovah God sent His only begotten Son into the world to be the only sacrificial Lamb that can take away our sins and reconcile us to the true and living God.

You can follow some other false god if you wish (there is only one true God), and there is only one exclusive way to God – through His Son Jesus Christ, the Messiah.

Jesus declared, “…No man comes to [God] the Father, but by Me.” (John 14:6). Perhaps you may think that is dogmatic, narrow and even politically incorrect. I have to admit that it is; but it’s the truth. Jesus is the only path that will bring you to the true God. Now, you don’t have to follow this path. You’re free to believe anything you want and follow any false religion you like. God won’t stop you; that is where your free will comes in. But if you want to follow the only true way to God, you have to get on the right path or you’ll be lost. That’s just the way it is. Yahovah God has decreed that there is only one right way – through Jesus Christ, the Messiah, His only begotten Son.

We cannot be saved by our own good works either.

Performing good deeds and keeping the laws of God are always important, but they alone cannot save us. They can never produce the absolute perfect righteousness that God requires. Only Jesus was perfect. “Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us” -Titus 3:5. It is by “grace through faith in Jesus that we are saved. It is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast” – Ephesians 2:8,9. The minute you and I come to faith in Jesus’ substitionary death on our behalf, the way to God is open. It is the only way we can be saved.

Anyone can come.

Regardless of your race or previous religious beliefs, Jesus invited everyone to come to salvation. He said, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink.” – John 7:37. This is an all-inclusive invitation to all human beings. None are excluded except those who exclude themselves. The Lord Jesus gives only one condition, “If anyone thirsts and comes to me.” If you’re thirsting for the truth and the true God, He asks you to simply come to Him. He is the only One that can satisfy you.

Prayer of Salvation:

Pray this prayer right now with all sincerity….

“Lord Jesus, I believe You are the Son of God, the Messiah. I believe that you sacrificed your life on the cross of Calvary to pay the penalty for my sins. I repent of my sins; please forgive me. Today, I receive you as my Savior and Lord. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit and help me to live my life for You, from this day forth, amen.”
